This is not a problem exclusive with rap

It's social media, all of us are exposed to the stupid bullshit teenagers do now.

So RAP ISNT REGRESSIVE? IT HASNT DONE DAMAGE IS THAT WHAT YALL ARE TRYING TO GET OFF?

you can argue that rap has done damage to the public perception of blackpeople

but within the community itself any damage is kinda negligible

It’s not only misguided but grossly offensive to downplay centuries of systemic racism, corrupt and incompent local government and a economic system designed to limit social mobility and distill that into “rap made them pick up a gun”

Niggas isn’t just “telling” their story niggas are selling full on fabrications of a live they never or barely lived

And even certified niggas like Durk contribute to glorifying ignorance in a big way

i don’t really wanna go this route bc discourse on this site is terrible, but again it is not always glorification on the artists behalf, white mfs and suburbanites have a big hand in glorification of street culture if we’re gonna be real

If your role models were rappers, and you've made a lot of your choice in life due to being influenced by rappers or rap music...shit any genre really, you may need to get some serious help.

  • Jun 16, 2021

Also people's mental health is way worse nowadays too

I think alot of these kids now have a hard time seperating reality from music. That's the biggest thing.

Someone who also grew up on a lot of rap from the 80s, 90s, 00s, etc who never had a f***in rapper as a role model or major influence in the choices I made in life.

Single parent households do more damage than rap ever could tbh

  • there’s also a huge issue here with the power and influence of celebrity

    Culture

So can you explain the spike in these issues post the end of the civil rights movement?

    These issues being:

    D*** use
    Single parent households
    Wealth gap
    Education gap
    Crime

They all predate hip hop/rap music

    1) Unfair capitalism (housing/business loans discrimination)
    2) Introduction of crack into inner cities
    3) Underfunding to newly desegregated school districts/cities following white flight to suburbs

Just three off the top of my head

They do bro I get it 100% but even before it blew up online niggas was always blowing smoke abt who’s more down, who’s more tough, who selling this that. Humans have always been like this

Dont blame the white kids for this

The issue at hand of course is that we live in a system designed to put us in these positions

That doesn’t change the reality of it though
