started autobiography of malcom x this week and just about 100 pages in. need to really knock some time out with it this weekend
its such a page turner im surprised. i was expecting to get sucked in but the prose and pacing is just addicting
That's an amazing book right there. You won't even notice the length
I've been reading that too, it's incredible so far.
Also reading The Stand, which is amazing.
I put The Stand on hold, for certain reasons in these uncertain times

Haha for some reason I was compelled to pick it up during this madness. I also just finished The Dark Tower and I'm on a King kick.

Nope, haven't even started but I have the 7 books. And also that wind through the keyhole additional book. How was the series for you

F***ing incredible. I actually haven't read Wind Through the Keyhole yet, I wanted to read them in the order they were released, but if I was to read them again I'd definitely read that one in between 4 and 5. I wasn't missing anything, and I can't judge it because I haven't read it yet, but the nature and structure of the series, I can see why it would make sense to have that one placed in the very middle.
I loved it because every book is so different from the last, but it all feels incredibly cohesive. The Gunslinger is a really cool intro, almost like a prelude to the series. Things get really insane right at the top of The Drawing of the Three.
4 & 7 were my favorites but it's all great. I haven't seen much consensus from forums I've read, everyone seems to prefer different ones. I read that there is sort of a disconnect between the first 4 and the last three, which he wrote all at once after his accident, but as someone who just read them all for the first time and wasn't waiting years for the books it was all seamless to me.
I had never read any King before The Gunslinger, I'm sure you know alot of his work ties into it but I was never confused, none of that stuff is required knowledge.

I've only read some short stories (in the tall grass, children of the corn) and Carrie, which I enjoyed. Really curious to jump into Dark Tower. Heard it's his magnum Opus and this makes me wanna jump in immediately
But I still gotta finish Book Thief first

It definitely feels like it, I was blown away.
If you're not in a rush and you want to read some stuff (based off what I've read/currently reading and just know from reading the series) that plays into the tower:
The Stand
'Salems Lot
The Shining
Insomnia
IT
But again, I really don't think it matters.

It's wild how Stephen King has a whole universe that connects with books outside that universe .
IT seems long af. Imma check it out though.

For real, he's something else. I don't know how much you know about the Dark Tower but the connected universe really starts making more sense as the series goes on.
IT was really great. There are passages that go on and on, so far I'm liking The Stand more and I loved The Dark Tower way more, but if you have the time and want a great horror epic with fantastic characters (the structure is incredible too) it's highly recommended. The first couple hundred pages in particular I couldn't put down.
As far as connections to the Tower, IT is relatively thin but there's some out there/cosmic type of mind f***s that tie in. I might have read into it a little much because I read it in between reading some of the Tower books. If you're set on reading some books that tie into the tower, I would say from what I understand, the order I listed those books in is from most to least connected.

If you have a digital device for sure get IT on that. That book is a BRICK
About to finish Brandon Sandersons first book in the Stormlight series
Best fantasy book I’ve ever read

Lol thanks for the heads up. Saw IT part 2 and thought it was okay, but a lil overstuffed. I hope the book isn't overstuffed as well

A lot of people tell me that Sanderson is really good at writing action set pieces , that's what got me really interested in checking out Way of kings when I get the time

Him and mark greany (Netflix is gonna adapt his books with gosling and Chris Evans) are the best two action describes I’ve ever read

I could be wrong since I've never read IT but everything in IT part 2 isn't in the book.
I see it generally praised as one of the best Stephen King books so it's prob not too bad on the unnecessary stuffing
How much do you guys read in one go usually?
I have a s*** attention span so I only read like 10 pages a night before I go to bed. Takes forever to finish a book but I'm comfortable with it

I try to sit down every morning after my workout and every night before bed for about 30 minutes with my phone in another room and read

30-40 pages in one session, and I try to fit in two sessions a day. anymore than that and my mind wanders and I can't think critically about what I'm reading

It depends on the prose honestly. Some authors have prose that make for a compulsively readable yarn. I read the extended edition of Norwegian wood in less than 5 days.
i gotta get better at just setting time out of my day to read
every night im like damn i didn't do anything today and always have a book im enjoying but for some reason didn't touch
Tryna dedicate a new time to read I know I won't be disturbed
reading soon after waking up >
just tried it today and I like the results, will see if its consistently the same throughout a number of days. Late nights work too for no disturbances, but the artificial light be f**ing up my eyes, ugh!
