Yeah I loved it as well, the way it's written is so unique and revolutionary for it's time. At first glance Holden can seem annoying but when you realize how damaged he is and that he just craves for somebody's attention, you just feel for him

I think J.D Salinger made sure we'd never see any movie adaptation of it, unfortunately I understand the decision tho but would be interesting regardless
