@ghosting this our new msct from here on out
type s***

bro r u stalking me??
No?
I’m hunting you for sport
Slight difference
Getting ahead of myself but does anyone know if Hyperion (Dan Simmons) is similar or have similar suggestions?
I haven't read it personally YET so can't speak from experience, but the Sun Eater series seems to be the series that everyone is hyped about right now and are calling the best modern sci fi series. I've seen an interview with the author that Dune was definitely an inspiration for him. Reviews say there's a lot of political intrigue and philosophical musings, and religions (both original and real ones that exist in our real world) seem to definitely play a role in it

7 chapters in and I’m hooked
The magic system is so damn unique
you late brother! month almost over! lol jk

if anybody wants to do a read along and discuss it in here lmk
Had no idea Herzog put out a novel, excitement skyrocketed when I saw it was about that Japanese soldier who kept fighting for decades after WW2
has anyone read it?
I had started Joe Ambercrombie's The Sword Itself. I honestly couldn't maintain focus on it past chapter 4. It's not that I did not necessarily enjoy it, but think I'm gonna save it for a later read. I've tried starting it over twice now, and I stop at the same point both times.
Idk if it's reading fatigue or what but haven't read anything for the past 2 weeks now. I have been reading a book pretty much weekly for the last year and a half at this point. I will probably go back to the Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee later this month. I read the first book, which was pretty good. After that I'm either gonna go towards more sci-fi. Read some Andy Weir novels. Looking for more black authors, or non-white authors in the genre. I really enjoyed N.K Jemisin's Shattered Earth trilogy. The themes of the series stuck with me more than I realized.
Decided to pick up the dark tower series late last year.
I liked the first book but it took me a few months to get through. Started the second and am now on pace to finish it in about a week. I have no idea where the rest of the series will go but I'm loving it at the moment. King is so descriptive about certain things it usually ends up paying dividends later on when it compounds on something else.
Looking forward to the rest of the series but genuinely have no idea where it will go, besides to the tower, hopefully.
Reading Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison right now
Only twenty pages in so far but I'm already completely stunned by the level of command and power her writing has

"Boy, you got better things to do with your time. Besides, it's time you started learning how to work. You start Monday. After school come to my office; work a couple of hours there and learn what's real. Pilate can't teach you a thing you can use in this world. Maybe the next, but not this one. Let me tell you right now the one important thing you'll ever need to know: Own things. And let the things you own own other things. Then you'll own yourself and other people too. Starting Monday, I'm going to teach you how."
F*** this wretched world we've built on this earth
I finished reading Lightbringer in the Red Rising series
I need Lysander's head on a spike
I need him skinned alive and shot into the sun
RIP Mario Vargas Llosa 🇵🇪🕊️
absolute legend
My (writing) GOAT
I've always wondered about his right-wing pivot. Conservativism contains a lot of implicit fear, can this be seen in his work? War of the End of the World and Death in the Andes (both of which I would describe as materialist) communicate some fear that the world is changing beyond recognition, and during Peru's 1990 Presidential Election Vargas Llosa's proposed policies became the inspiration for the Peruvian Army's genocidal plan to eliminate vulnerable populations. How does one go from the veneration of the peasant in War of the End of the World to wishing them all to be sterilized in less than a decade?
