can’t speak for men but personally, i don’t see the point in having irl male friends. anything a man can give me platonically is something my partner gives me better. besides, u show a bit of compassion and let him be vulnerable with u things usually get weird.

that being said i don’t have irl female friends either, i just talk to my sisters.

Co dependent vibes from this post

Yes, half my best friends are women. Half my partners best friends are men. If you can't trust each other you might as well wrap it up today.

Half for me too. I have 6 really good friends and 3 of them are women.

Of that group, one is gay and my best friend right now. There's never been any romantic feelings there from either of us. The other two I had romantic interest in at one point but idk, things change and I got over it.

I think it's normal for those feelings to burn off once the nature of a relationship is set. It's also normal to not have them at any point.

yes, you just have to be mature

many men/women struggle to find the balance and its sad

yeah thats almost exactly the same for me the one person ive hung out with the most over the last like 17 years is a woman that is very beautiful but at least double my weight and im not attracted to big girls so its been easy to keep it unconditional.

Ive been very infatuated with one of my women friends (and pretty sure there were some feelings reciprocated) but we never managed to be single at the same time so nothing ever came of it. had alot of times to make a move but didn't cause im not a scuzzbucket and really enjoy her company. probably never will since my partner and I are coming up on our 9th anniversary.

Would've said undoubtedly yes if I was answering this until last year but now I'm saying yes with a caveat - you can't be friends with someone that you're attracted to and would like to hook up/have a romantic relationship with It just doesn't work. You can't be a genuine friend to someone while lowkey hoping for something more. How can I listen to my woman friend vent about her sexual experiences or boyfriend when I want to be with her? That's just causing myself unnecessary pain. Would rather shoot my shot and see what happens if I see it's a possibility, separate myself from her if I see it's not

My answer is 70/30 no depending on your personality or looks. My red pill only goes as far as this. This is more true if you have a wife or serious girlfriend.

Most of my meaningful or my low maintenance friendships that work so far are with male friends.

Plus a lot of male friendships are usually shallow and don't go past knowing someone's birthday.

Any woman I'm friends with are just really acquaintances. They don't really hit me up to hang out or they only say hi when we happen to see each other at a location. It works for me

I have been working in companies where women outnumber the men, and they're friends/coworkers to me.

Do you hang out with the women as much as the men? Or is it usually everyone hangs out together kind of thing?

In my case, some of us hang out together and kind of have our own conversations going on. We'll text each other separately, make plans, etc. Two of my friends aren't in that group but the rest of us are.

I would say I hang around women more than men at this point because of my roommate situation.

A bit exaggerated, but I'm talking about how men are less invested/vulnerable with a lot of their "friendships" when it's really just being acquaintances. Best friends are the exception because those are deep relationships.

I listen to my brother and what his friends talk about, and I'm like y'all really not best of friends. Y'all just like each other enough cause y'all went to the same college together

yeah ngl I can only remember peoples birthdays if they're on a memorable date. never been able to exactly remember my parents but I know my sisters cause its two days before halloween. my female besties is right in between Christmas and New Years. certain but not offended that all my bros know my birthday just cause its a week into May which happens to be the day Marvel has dropped their big summer movie for the last like 15 years, so we alway go do that. I dont think exact birth date recall is a great signifier for shallowness.

It's definitely easier to have a pure, well-intentioned friendship if there's little/no attraction.

Still, I've found once things settle into familiar patterns, the feelings just kinda burn off and I can move on regardless. My female friends have their own issues and starting romantic relationships with them wouldn't benefit any of us. There are a lot of other good women out there.

Men can’t have friends in general, only nemesis and periodic treaties.

I think it's a start for a basic level of remembering someone for a lot of people

But that's me being lazy and depending on FB for that lol

Yeah I don't use Facebook so my gf has to tell me when somebody is getting a ton of birthday wishes.

Anyway I have a lot of deep connections with people that I have no idea when their birthday is.

I feel like city folk take relationships for granted more than everybody else. So many fish in the sea makes people never want to stop fishing.

I ruined a lot of my female friendships from unnecessary sex, wouldn’t recommend it

I will admit that I'm getting pickier with age

After one failed marriage, unless the person is just right, I'm good just focusing on my career. I've been either at work or at band practice 75% of the time lately anyway
