OP i think you got a point though, theres def a few songs that feel like they would have went on Views (You and the 6, Jungle, etc) but a lot of the rap on it does give off focused project that he spent a couple months on only. probably a bit of both honestly. drake has a tendency to hold onto albums for too long and scrap songs/versions because he prolly overthinks and overlistens to the work

vinguviews sucks as an album and is mostly filler but has a few of his best tracks. like fire & desire bro? feel no ways? u with me (more the production on this one, it's got some cringe bars)? weston road?

Hurry Up FaderYeah this how I feel. Pretty mixed album overall, but definitely contains some of his best songs ever
I feel View's biggest drawback was the bait and switch.
He promoted the album initially with 0-100 and The Catch Up then dropped IYRTITL as a borderline pre-cursor to the album and then the album is nothing at all like those releases lol.
I honestly think Views would've been slightly better received on arrival had its marketing been different from the 2014-2015 promotion.

ImAUsernameLikei think he definitely saved a lot of VFT6 songs for the actual Views, but IYRTITL is definitely mostly VFT6 songs as well. any song he says “views” as an ad lib is clearly a VFT6 song, so it’s like both are partly VFT6.
Right.. and I like how Views is more, probably Drake’s real experience in Toronto coming up and then IYRT is more his character

Hell, Joe Budden's podcast blew up from having a similar take.
Don't get it twisted. I don't think Views is a bad album at all. It's a solid 6.5 imho.
But the album was no doubt the beginning of Drake stat padding and focusing on making his albums quasi-playlists that will "have a song for everybody" while being able to dominate streaming.
I lowkey think Drake even adding Hotline Bling to Views was indicative of this too. It came out summer of 2015 and had no attachment to the concept of "Views From The 6" but he added it as a bonus track anyway to stat pad and boost the streams for the album.
Again, not a bad album and it's commercial success speaks for itself but it did change Drake's discourse in music quite a bit that didn't really change until 2022(but he reverted back in 2023 and on onward).

this is why i say IYRTITL was Drake’s initial plan for VFT6 before he decided to change direction & retitle the “new” album Views

Oblivion XViews actually aged pretty good ngl
Last time i spun it in full, it was actually a lot better than i remembered…
still though, More Life is a better record and just keeps getting better imo. Drake’s last great record (as of yet)… DLDT had some great tracks too, but that was more of a compilation than an album
