Digital! I do user research, UX and UI design (company is very lean and we have a small team)

Process is diff depending on the project, priorities, and whether i’m creating something from scratch vs redesigning an existing flow/iterating.

Kinda stressed out doing all of this rn bc i’m on multiple development teams due to lack of design resources and hiring freeze at the company

Damn. I've definitely heard about stories like that. It's a shame designers aren't really fully fully respected like other professions in term of monetary/resource allocation.

I've heard about Jr. Designers get funneled into being a lead designer when resources get so thin.
There's pro's and cons to that, though.

How is your career designing ethically? Have you ever run into any ethical dilemmas?

Yeah only as a last result should a junior designer join a non-established team. Been in the field for almost 3 years now though

I try my best to join companies that align with my moral values. It’s honestly very hard to avoid tho... businesses are there to make money 🤷🏻‍♀️

You should be a PA tbh

    Makes great money
    Works great hours
Not as stressful because you still have a doctor to help guide you if needed
    Tons of jobs available

Yeah I looked at that position because one just opened but I don’t have all the credentials for the job yet.

Oh yeah you have to go to school for it. I think it's usually a 3 year program? Or maybe 2? I can't remember for sure, but it's definitely something to think about for the future.

That’s my problem I’m trying to avoid going back to school but I can’t go further in my career without it. I just gotta stop being lazy and go before I get old

thanks for the insight man, its not a degree its just a little two year diploma program, i wanted to go into the business side of it but i soon found out after i started the retail buying class fourth semester that i cant do math at all and might even be clinically ed and fashion design is a whole other beast i have no interest in cause that s*** looks so frustrating, i was thinking about doing something involving youtube but im not sure what yet might cop final cut pro and learn how to edit videos and s***, idk man i turn 26 next month and my parents are on my cause about what i want to do with my life and im tripping lmao, feels good to write this out man its all good if u dont read it all <3

Hey if you really enjoy fashion I think you should continue to move forward with it. The math behind it, I think if you go back to basic I think you can do it. The math involved is more about understanding them rather than doing it. From what I know, basic knowledge on statistics should be sufficient, youtube is a great source of knowledge whenever you dont know something. As for working on youtube that sounds risky man ngl, cause its not an established job or anything so if it doesnt work out then you are back to square one, but if you take a more established job you can get exprience and it is easier to get hired after too.

    Sailor

literally zero idea of what im gonna do

just started uni and i already realised i have no interest in my degree and hate all of my classes...

was thinking security maybe? i heard its pretty good pay

working a job where when my shift ends i dont have to think about it anymore sounds great, the worst thing about school is that its constantly on my mind, stressing me out..

You gotta think deep about what you like, try it out, and know why you like it or didnt like it. If you never try, youd never know. As for security I think its a good option temporally, I see the security gaurd in my builidng is taking school part time and he can study when he has nothing to do. And bro dont think that stress is a bad thing, too much of it is bad ofc but you have a right amount its good for your productivity.

not sure if it’s considered a “career” since you don’t need education for most positions... but i started working at a paper mill almost 2 years ago and it’s the best job i’ve ever had and the schedule is amazing

Tryna move to a rural area and bust out a little farm for my wife and I, maybe have a dance and art studio where we offer classes or getaways for artists in exchange for part time work at the farm and food/bed.

Working as a web designer now, but taking a UX bootcamp to get the full experience of the UX cycle & hopefully working at another startup or agency when I'm done.

Can't wait to be out in the field

interesting. especially with all the equipment.
Nothing at all what i expected. The people are cool, but definitely very “country” for the most part.
    schedule is 4 days 6am-6pm, 4 days off, 4 nights 6pm-6am 4 days off.
I work in the best department so i have lots of downtime and i work alone for the most part so on easy days i can watch movies and stuff. It’s actually the mill that the homer simpson’s nuclear plant is based off. lol

That sounds dope. I'd kill to have a schedule like that. Grinding 5 days straight + some weekends for ticket coverage is a pain

Is it possible you can phone it in during the interview with enough preparation and then learn it on the job later?
Anyway that's the company's to tell you whether or not you suit their needs (some companies don't care if you don't meet every single requirements) and it takes like 10 min to apply so it's always worth to try

Well assuming they give you an interview the best would be to apply beforehand to a lesser but still similar job and check what kind of questions they're asking so you know what to expect / write down and memorize your answers for the real job interview or have somebody in the field who you could have a mock interview with
No idea how hard it would be with japanese though
