Isn't it aiming for number 1
It’s going to fall off in the 20s on the chart the following week
They always have to set the most unrealistic standards for Drake and only Drake. How dare he drop a song that isn't a cultural staple and a mega smash hit? Drake could drop a song and call it an interlude and niggas would be crying about how it wasn't the song of the summer and how that means his run is over
Nobody said his run was over here y’all go making narratives up again
All Charlamagne said was that the song wasn’t catching on with most people
Any Drake single is debuting within the Top 5 nowadays man, the first week position isn’t really moving me honestly
so wtf u want then? f***ing zelensky making tiktok of the song singing the drake outro?

I personally don’t care about the song’s chart success because I enjoy the song whether it’s #1 or #100. I’m just commenting on what Charlamagne said
Nobody talks about it outside of KTT
This thread is related to a radio personality talking about the song.

I know you’re not going in or being purposely unfair but I personally think you underestimate how hard it is for a rapper to go number 1 these days.

ngl if this was He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, they’d be calling this a flop or saying it “came and went” if the predictions pan out to be true

5 minute no hook slow rnb song even top 40 is crazy

It's not
The dialogue in this thread is why Drake has no competition. Nobody else can be judged to this standard.
how does what he said equate to never being around women?
And what does any of this have to do with being around women?
Calling people “feminine” when a trait annoys you or isn’t what you personally respect typically means most women would not find him fun to be around

Nobody cares about him lmao
No one said it’s supposed to be, but at the same time what Charlamagne is saying is fair then. The average consumer isn’t wondering what songs were sent to radio and which weren’t, they see the word “Single” and they’re expecting a certain thing.
Obviously it’s an album cut but it was still released as a single whether it was sent to radio or not
Charlemagne working in radio for over a decade and still having that take is exactly why it is so disingenuous.
Also, his entire take was "people only started talking about the song a few days after it dropped and that's unlike Drake." He caught himself and said "he'll be fine, but..." and that's what Drake had an issue with.
Charlemagne has been wishing for Drake to fall off for YEARS now. It's not a new thing. He was celebrating his run being over in 2017. And then in 2020, was acting like Drake hadn't scored a hit in years. In 2021, he was announcing that Drake needed Lil Baby for relevance and that we were now in the Lil Baby era.
Year after year, dude is either talking down on Drake's legacy or pushing narratives about his run being over. Acting like Drake is "doing too much" by finally responding to all the bullshit is ridiculous.

For the average rapper, I agree. Drake is not the average rapper though, he outstreams everyone in the music industry not named Taylor Swift. And the charts are in a very weak spot right now, Slime You Out was guaranteed to debut Top 3 no matter what it sounded like:
And I’m not belittling the accomplishment for Drake, it’s still a super dope thing to go #1. But with Drake specifically nowadays, I personally judge the strength of his singles based on their chart longevity rather than their initial position because he’s gonna debut super high every single time

And you're judging this song like your average Drake single because...?
5 minute no hook slow rnb song even top 40 is crazy
Ehh this ain't it. No guidance would have hit if it dropped today. Girls love Beyonce too.
Justice for Signs😥

much 2 think about..

I personally am not because I understand it’s an album cut that’s not a true single.
But the average music listener isn’t making that distinction, so they’re gonna see the word Single and judge its’ success accordingly.

This is facts but they’ll never admit it.
That album was a “flop” but now the excuse for Slime You Out is that it wasn’t meant to be commercially successful… funny how the turn tables
Played this song twice and never again plus never heard anyone else play it or discuss it.
Streaming farms are alive and well I fear.
