There's some songs I really, really like on here. Race My Mind and N 2 Deep immediately became some of my favorite Drake tracks, possibly of all time. Champagne Poetry is a great intro track, and I love Papi's Home as the follow-up track, even though I don't care much about the rapping on that track.
But I'm ngl, there's a few tracks that I just don't really come back to because they're whatever. In The Bible is meh. Yebba's Heartbreak is cool, but... not an actual track. The Remorse is a nice outro, but it pales in comparison to his previous ones and it's not very interesting.
Love All and Fair Trade should've been solo Drake tracks
Overall, it bounces between a 6/10 and 7/10 for me. The standout tracks REALLY stand out, but the meh tracks are super meh.
That's just my opinion though. I feel like this album should've really honed in on the Certified Lover Boy theme that he was attempting on a few of these tracks. Just drop a full R&B album already man.
Girls Want Girls actually a bottom 5 Drake song
Might be the worst if Lil Baby doesn’t come through
It's probably his least interesting project that he's dropped ever for me.
It's drake, so every LP he's going to have some really top tier records.
FOR ME THOUGH, the lows on this album are some of the lowest of lows for his career.
Way 2 Sexy is awful. He's too talented to resort to this kind of low hanging fruit for a smash. Girls want girls is meh, can do without. He and Lil Durk can do soooo much better than In the Bible.
Papi's Home is ridiculous, which is crazy given the production that's on it. Love All was a goat leak that turned into some boring s***. I know Knife Talk is one of the 'hits' on this but that record could have honestly did w/o drake on it.
The highs are vintage drake, but at this point in his career I wish he'd play for history more instead of chasing hits which FOR ME is wild because he's so talented he does not need to do some of the s*** he did on this LP.
Still listen to the highlights though but...I didn't expect Dark Lane to be better than this and IMO it very clearly is.
Well explained I respect your points it I can agree it isn’t a top LP of his for me either but I still can play this from front to back and just enjoy it. At the end of the day I feel like that’s all it is about and if you don’t like it then that’s cool too.
CLB is the most annoying drake album ever because like,
he's the most talented rap act ever and you're making way 2 sexy, girls want girls, and in the Bible? Huh???
He's made club and radio smashes without hitting this low of the low hanging fruit.
Why is Travis scott even on Fair trade?
You have this gorgeous Montell Jordan sample about being an absent dad...and you use it to rap with Nicki Minaj about what exactly?
Too old to be on bullshit

If you can, more power to you.
That's why I stressed FOR ME
I've been listening to drake since Barry Bonds freestyle on Comeback season and extra special on Room For Improvement,
I genuinely think he's way too good for some of this s***

Seems to be a theme with it is meh everything after 2015 generally speaking people enjoy but isn’t like “prime Drake” they’d possibly call it. I’m glad you like some tracks off the album and hope he delivers for you in the future.

Damnnn see I love that song I see it as a smooth banger but hey it is what it is 😂

Nah I feel that listening for so long you notice massive changes like that and I feel the same way in some aspects. Stuff he dropped now isn’t anything like his old stuff. Not everybody is gonna fw it either. The subjectivity of not only this album but music in general is always so intricate and dope. Seeing what people like and don’t like with songs and full length projects.
“Fine”
“A 10/10”
Pick one
10/10 as in I can easily play it and enjoy it but it isn’t my favorite album of his some songs are not as good as others on here. But as a collective an entire album it is not bad at all it is enjoyable to listen to.
Personally I don’t think so I like what he was saying on it about all the people around him. Could it of had more of an impact? Yeah you aren’t wrong he does have stronger outro tracks.
I’ve never had an issue with his lyrics it’s mostly production and length. The Remorse over a more fresher melody would be beautiful.

I did like the production of that track but it felt very hollow and skeletal could of used something else or just been completely changed.
Solid video that gives valid points about the album. (Idk if this has been posted anywhere else yet I haven’t seen it personally till now)

Travis was the best part of fair trade. I wish that beat was for the whole song.

You’re spitting facts in here man. Then the fact that he hasn’t dropped an interview at least explaining the rationale behind the music is really just leaving me where I’m like “well that era was literally for nothing” and just hoping the next one actually is more meaningful
Disclaimer long read and for people who really wanna talk about the length of this album or anything about it.
I think the album is fine a 10/10 for me I enjoy every song. This is just all hypothetical and if I had to shorten it this is how I would. Feel free to share your changes as well. For this i’m keeping all the tracks for the sake of them already existing. Just cutting them from the album and shortening it you’ll see below.
1. Champagne Poetry
2. Papi’s Home
3. Girls Want Girls
4. In The Bible
5. Fair Trade
6. TSU
7. N 2 Deep
8. Pipe Down
9. Race My Mind
10. Get Along Better
11. IMY2
12. F***ing Fans
13. The Remorse
Songs left off
Love All - should of kept the other version or gave this to Jay Z
Way 2 Sexy - A future song give that to him
Yebba’s Heartbreak - fire track but could of been kept for her project, maybe possible Drake feature on there instead of here
No Friends In The Industry - dope track but this and 7am could of been a loosie drop via SoundCloud or something
Knife Talk - Should of been on Savage Mode 2
7AM - a SoundCloud or Sirius XM drop would of been dope for this
Fountains - easily could of been given to Tems
You Only Live Twice - save this for the Drake & Ross project that hopefully we see one day
You took off 2 of the best songs (NFITI & Knife Talk) and kept 3 of the worst (Girls Want Girls, In the Bible, Fair Trade)
Yes I know Girls Want Girls did numbers

Just my list and those songs would still exist they’d just drop another way that’s all. I like those songs too it was just a hypothetical.
Now I've had time to let this album settle I have to say its very underwhelming & I don't go back to it anywhere near as much as I did with Scorpion.
Papi's home is a terrible track, instant skip for me.
Hopefully the next project is better.
5/10

2022 more shells
CLB hard 8/10 for me however it deals with similar problems his other albums have length , useless features etc . Original project probably better but we can say the same with views and scorpion
Calling an album boring because you are fatigued of the artist is the epidemy of being subjective.
That's why time is so important. The more time passes you can separate the art from the artist and the hoopla sourounding said artist.
CLB a vibe.

Shoutout to OP for this thread. I’m enjoying reading all these opinions a few months later 👍🏾
