Yeah bro ngl, I’ve always loved comics, but was always intimidated because of the sheer amount of different storylines, continuity issues, etc.

What i CAN recommend is starting at maybe one of the recent reboot phases for Marvel or DC. For example when I got back into reading, DC Rebirth had just came out, and that was a really a great starting point into the universe. Marvel might be a little more tough, but if you really tryna get into reading Hickman’s Secret Wars, then lmk and I’ll get you a reading order. Hickman’s Secret Wars was a f***ing experience bro, I loved every bit of it.

YES all that. I def wanna get into secret wars and all the other events that made a huge impact on marvel since it seem like the movies take a lot from them. There's a lot of heroes, teams and stories I'm interested in as well . X men being one, I know there's so many Batman ones out there and joker ones. The modern stuff look amazing as well I seen red X on a poster for something called future slate idk if that's a new universe. S*** like gwenpool, immortal hulk, swamp thing etc looks amazing as well and then there suicide squad and the x force sorry if theme seems like a lot I peeped the comic thread was and be seeing comic fans on Twitter and this artform seems so fun I wanna be caught up and just enjoy as much as I can lol

  • F***in spawn and blue beetle too maan this could get do overwhelming to get into

Lol what do you mean? Would dissembled be better?

yeah secret wars 2 is like the end of the original marvel universe it would be like reading the final chapter in a book series
secret wars 2 is basically marvels first crisis event
disassembled is a soft reset and secret wars is a hard reset

yeah avengers disamebled leads into new avengers which is the main marvel comic for like 10 years it leads into different events like (civil war, secret invasion, and siege) then read hickmans fantastic four i suggest and his avengers and new avengers after that which all lead up to secret wars 2 that hickman also wrote but u definitely gonna need a reading order cause its probably like 300 issues of what i consider essential

yeah infinity is in the middle of his avengers run
house of x takes place after secret wars 2 but its more disconnected from his previous writings like fantastic four which was a good 5 6 years before secret wars 2 is kind of essential to reading secret wars 2

Start with The New 52 for DC. New 52 was DC’s major reboot and it was like around 2009-2010 I think? Most stories that spun out of this reboot are perfect for anybody new to the universe.

    Def start reading these:

Scott Snyder’s run on Batman if you looking for Batman s***

Grayson by Tom King and Tim Seeley (Nightwing goes spy)

The Omega Men by Tom King (12 issue maxi that’s pretty self contained with Kyle Rayner GL)

Geoff John’s Justice League was coo, and would also be a good place to get introduced to the modern versions of the League.

Here’s a reading order if you tryna go through it all, though not everything was good… just a warning lol

    comicbookherald.com/reading-dc-comics/new-52-reading-order

Once you’ve dabbled in The New 52, you can make your way into DC Universe Rebirth. This was singlehandedly the thing that got me back into reading super heavy, and also writing on my own. The one-shot below starts it all off

Dc rebirth got me excited Been In the worse depressive slump of my life and that single-handedly killed all my aspirations for anything creative but maybe comics can send a spark of some sort. Making comics sound hella cool man. Voice acting and all that would love to see the step into that process sucks that I’m not a good writer. Also what about stuff like three jokers, year one and the other Batman stuff well that mess up my reading order also curious about the other robins and batgirls too

  • Gwenpool apart of te new hickmem run rn too but wasn’t before which is confusing
