"Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 appear to escape antibody responses among both people who had previous Covid-19 infection and those who have been fully vaccinated and boosted, according to new data from researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, of Harvard Medical School.
However, Covid-19 vaccination is still expected to provide substantial protection against severe disease, and vaccine makers are working on updated shots that might elicit a stronger immune response against the variants.
The levels of neutralizing antibodies that a previous infection or vaccinations elicit are several times lower against the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants compared with the original coronavirus, according to the new research published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday."

Going on my 4th day of having this (5th if you count the first day with a slight throat tickle)
Worst was the first day when I had horrible fevers all day long and could barely move
Wonder if I’ll ever feel comfortable not wearing a mask in indoor crowded places again anytime soon

No, I figure I might as well wait til the updated ones become available in the fall.

Preliminary studies seem promising. Better than current vaccines at the very least.

Nothing specific, Moderna says the fall. I think they plan on submitting sometime in August.
For other people who have got this and lost smell/taste — how long before you regained it?
I can still taste basic things (like sweet or salty), but it’s kinda like when you burn your tongue, the more nuanced taste buds are like numb.
To those unvaccinated, I pose a question
Will you get the vaccine now that Elmo has been vaccinated?

Haven’t gotten it yet, knock on wood, but from my friends and family who have it seems to vary. That said, the majority of them regained taste/smell after a couple weeks. I know two people who now have it what seems like permanently and both were unvaxxed; one got it in Nov 2020 and still tastes metal every couple bites and the other got it in Dec 2021 and is closer to what you describe, like a dull feeling.

Honestly I’m at the point where it doesn’t even bother me wearing one. People have generally stopped bothering me about it too, not that that was particularly common but I haven’t had anyone say anything since March

“We’re smart enough to know what we want and what we don’t want done with our bodies and as long as we do our research and do those decisions, that should be our right,” said citizen Diana Smith.

Yes it should be their right? What is your problem with that?
