It has to be the agorithm or @op is shadowbanned. He need to make a new bbc account and a new name not so out there.

Shadow banning is a myth tbh I just need to promo it more on tik tok I think. I do think it really is the algorithm and racist mfers clicking off as soon as they see a dude in a du-rag talking about some foreign movie, a nigga in a du-rag is a whole new world to them.

Cause like my like to dislike ratio is good as hell on youtube too

Yea I stay tweeting hell i retweet my own links.

I'm working on content to promo s*** on tik tok as we speak tho

Well s*** then you prolly be straight, you coming up with solutions instead of just giving up so you already doing better than a lot of niggas, just keep grinding and you gon get there, I been subbed for a minute now, hope I can see you hit a M

Like it's something I think about a lot and with how much work and effort i put into my content especially. I genuinely wonder if I'm getting less views because I'm black, because I legit have look at my engagements and it's like people click on my video and then off, but it's also like I'm in a predominantly white "hyper academic" section of youtube.

I hate to put the blame on that, but I just wonder if that's the reason I don't get the views I feel deserving of.

Like I very much know it's a yes but are there papers on this, have people actually looked into this, that way I know I'm not just blowing smoke into the air?

try to be consistent. If you have enough ideas for content, try to complete enough videos that will last you about a month and upload them in rapid enough succession, maybe every 2 weeks if not every week. the algorithm rewards people who are always putting things on the site, for every form of social media. its a game you have to keep your foot on the gas because there are many people competing for the same audience and viewers you hope to get.

Op uve been on my for you page so many times i wasnt aware of ur channel on youtube til now so u got a new subscriber

I doubt i can give any advice u haven’t already gotten itt, but id say a good way to get more exposure is through collabs and even picking up editing for bigger channels if u can

consistent uploading can only help for that too, but it can cause burnout and s*** so if thats not for u thats fine, a lot of channels still get big on a slower schedule but its tougher

  • Mmm Hmm 😆

Do a test to see if it's purely a racial problem.

Private all your videos with you in them.

Drop a couple vids. But don't show yourself.

If the numbers are dramatically different. Then

    Rip

Like idk maybe I'm not picking the right topics who knows? But also half a Million on video about veggie tales?

That's the exception not the rule

There may well be some racist people who click off after you're black

But there may not be some people clicking off because you're black

Theres 1000 reasons why its not poppin off n people being racist is just one thing that u cant even control anyway so focus on being more consistent

I got a white face n uploaded nearly every single day for a year straight. Was a known poster here and was sharing the videos here and everywhere and I never even got 1000 views on a video.

Nah your right it's just weird to me idk, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it, I but keep in mind what i said earlier about white folks having a natural media basis, you might now but it's something that's been studied in sociology, that being said I don't wanna make this about me I'm more interested in this and if it's been researched as by in large I see black creators on youtube getting a fraction of the views as their non black counterparts

Hey OP no offense but a lot of people gave you a bunch of great constructive criticism and all you do is deflect or make excuses

YouTube is the most oversaturated platform in the world and you expect to just "blow up" while simultaneously not growth hacking?

You are not the exception to the rule and as others have said the content isn't that original or eye-catching. Not to mention it's incredibly niche and not popular

The fact that you act "too proud" to crosspromote on Tik Tok or at least consider using it as a marketing tool just shows how much you have to learn

If you want to succeed treat it like a business, not a hobby. You might raise your nose to these tactics you find lame, but why do you think successful channels use them?

Do you think popular creators enjoy putting stupid shock face thumbnails? Of course not. It's stupid behavior but the algorithm requires you to play the game

It's fine to be proud of the content you've made but it's another thing to be delusional about expecting success when something isn't working

10 videos is nothing. No one cares how long you take to make them. If anything you should be learning how to make more videos faster. If you can't source more than 10 video ideas in 2 years, being a full-time youtube creator isn't going to be for you. No matter how long you spend "researching"

Also, I know it might be your "dream" to be a YouTuber, but if you're getting traction on Tik Tok, I don't get why you wouldn't focus your time and energy there. It makes no sense to spread yourself thin if you can't handle the time commitments in the first place

I never said I was "too proud" I said that it would f*** up my numbers on the app, so I have to be smart about it. I'm not deflecting I'm just applying context. I know what I need to do I'm clearly listening.

If you looked at the stats I posted there's clear evidence of people clicking off before the video even gets started, I also posted evidence of my issues promoting on sites like reddit with arbitrary gatekeeping.

Clearly I need to make and post more videos, obviously I can play "the game" a little more but in regards to the thumbnail thing is that it's very much a long game personal branding thing All that aside, I'd like to see more fruits for my labor. I'm dumb but I'm not stupid, don't speak to me as such. I'm not "making excuses" I'm giving contextual rebuttals that are the cause and evidence that lead me to feeling the way I was. -40% within the first few minute constantly is a huge issue. I'm literally filming a video tomorrow, and scripting 3 as we speak. Trust my I'm not low on ideas, video essay youtube is just more labor intensive, but it's also very rewarding. A 50 minute disney video talking about our relationship with media is very much at home within that world

It's not as black and white as do X and get Y result, it's far more random and based on outside factors. Having 10 video yet not one breaking 5k is dishearten, regardless of if you think that's "a lot" that's a lot of bricks. I'm not a b**** who's gonna give up but I'm trying to rectify this, so I'm asking is this a factor out my control

Furthermore, I was mostly looking for other people's experience with these things, hell I didn't even post myself until asked.

In regards to "I don't focus on tik tok" I also post daily on it sometimes 5 times a day, so idk what you're even talking about. The reason tho is because it's not an evergreen platform, and if you want to have any kind of social media career, you need to diversify your platforms because you never know when that could be taken from you, also the money isn't there like that, for mirco-infuncers

Thank you I'm not trying to be rude or bitter I promise, I'm just trying to figure this out a bit more before I put more eggs in this basket.

Like it's frustrating. I literally freelance social media marketing, like I said I'm not stupid, I know how the game works, most of the advice I got was things I knew already; genuinely I'm not trying to deflect nor throw away the advice given. It's just like, f*** it feels like it's more of an uphill battle for me than my contemporaries at times.

but how do u know that when u haven't even tried to do what literally all content creators say is the absolute most important thing: to be consistent with ur uploads ??? views won't just pop up magically if u just create 10 vids in 2 years

Expect in the video essay community consistent isn't common, even with smaller channels. Like I said this isn't me being an asshat nor combative like genuinely there are examples that don't follow this rule. I understand that there are exceptions to these rules and some have established fan bases but I feel like my metrics aren't where they should be

Hell even there was that guy I shared who also had 10 videos, no consistency. Making similar content

-40% when the video's barely even started is a lot so I'm wondering why that might be, cause I put as much effort into my videos as anyone else and they are engaging from the start, they're not "hyper academic" but I shouldn't have to be to be "valid" either which is why I started making content all that film snob BS for average people

Just giving my 2 cents, i think in this type of channels where videos take a long time to make, longer videos function better

Like i follow some channels like that, and even tho they release videos every few months, they release this big ass video that is very informative and interesting, and as a viewer, when u see that it feels more rewarding
