you are verified? Are you a rapper?
No I produced on college dropout and multiple collab tapes with Chingy
This T.I. level deep
I don't know whether to take that as an insult or a compliment my g.

I’m foolin
But ya no everything u said was 100
& actually made me even look at tekashi differently 🤯
Rap music is the new mafia movies and its been that way for 20 years now
Crazy. Did the mob even get backlash like black gangs these days? Like all those movies did white peo le go crazy over that?
people seem to use it to describe an artist who rapped about killing someone and actually did it or some s*** idk
im as perplexed as you op

It's just like ( @jet_li and what I meant by saying what I said, not to brush off people's definitions) everyone's definition is interchangeable and could literally apply to the "fakest" rappers that you can think of off the top of your head my g.

Yeah. Italians used to face a lot of racism over in NYC and Chicago among others.
America just loves the gangster. It used to be Western outlaws, then it was the mafia, and now its black gang members.
Like I think if we're calling rappers (cause yall saying Ye's name a lot and I'm not mad at it) that don't even write all their rhymes real then I feel at that point, there's honestly no such thing as "fake" rappers 'nahmean?
Like Slim Jesus or Lil Tecca that admit they never did any of the actions they wrote about but at least they WROTE it my g.
real is just what it is. Its just what exists my g.
Yeah, I made this thread partially from that von thread but this whole week that s***'s been bugging me. Thinking back to that NY drill thread months ago and those reddits where niggas look at these kids/rappers like video game characters.
And I also had just finished watching vince staples' pitchfork interview where he himself was saying "just be yourself, you might be a fake ass nigga. You aint being real by being real"
But real to me is just is. Like, making art is real. It's a product right? When you hear 'fake' what's the first artist you think of? (rhetorical, I know it'll turn into a slander thread)
Like it's this thing where the rapper that has a childish gambino/lil yachty type of background isn't looked at as 'real' because they're not percieved as "took any risks for their families and friends" and to me that's kinda...interesting 'nahmean? Like the only time we look at "taking a risk for your people" as real is if it's some actual life or death type s***. Like we don't know how many economical risks that a Tekashi 69 took for trying to provide for his family. Is he a fake for snitching? Sure, I'd say so. But is he still real for trying to provide knowing that if he failed there was a good chance that he'd die?
Like what makes an artist real and what makes an artist fake?
I hope I answered your question, if not let me know.
i respect this, i feel you too. a lot of people think being "real" is being "hood"/"street" which isn't the case at all. one of my favorite kendrick bars "You like to mistake a street nigga for real nigga" just cause a nigga street don't make him real. That's why "Real" to me is a person who's honest & true to themselves. What's "Real" to you is interesting & thought provoking, i'm glad you shared it man cause it got me thinking

She got them Big Thighs right on me

Mc Eiht made a great point about the fascination of gang culture on probably one of the few times I'd watch a Vlad interview
nothing its real my g

An artist is real if their music is a reflection of themselves.
Like Tekashi can (by definition) be considered "real" cuz he actually rolled with a gang and actually sent hits on rappers. But he himself is fake cuz in reality he's not tough or about the gangsta s***.

so is this site itself a worship of one of the famous "fakest" rappers ever then my g?
To them being “real” is niggas acting buck wild n s***.
They don’t consider dudes like Cole real because he’s too “preachy”.
Who ever said Cole wasn’t Real ? thats a new one

Italians weren’t considered “white”
And yeah America loves the gangster till it’s too close to home
Being a real person to yourself and everyone around you instead of creating a facade and living in it.
Niggas that are known to be real:
Kendrick
Thug
Lil baby
Cole
Posty
Q
Mac
Tyler
You could also say that Kanye is real.
real is just what it is. Its just what exists my g.

To me real is just like the character they show in their music seems like they're really like that and they're not just posing
