Might be an unfair critique but I prefer Directors who writer their own film too. Besides co-writing Dune, Denis hasn’t written a film since Incendies

    Why you prefer them?

Bias cus that’s my career goal. But I just like seeing when film makers write something dope and then have the talent to visually make it look dope, etc.

Kinda like music artist with someone like KanYe who’s able to do both Rap and Produce.

I believe most great directors deserve writing credits even if they aren’t credited

Like Fincher isn’t credited as a writer on Gone Girl and Scorsese isn’t credited for Flower Moon but both films have gone through extensive rewrites and were overseen by the directors who had that change in mind upon seeing the screenplay.

I feel like even if a director doesn’t write the screenplay, they ultimately translate the material onto the screen so it ends up feeling like it’s still their work.
