I said they would have to find ways lol, or else guess what, the working class, if they are smart, which you have already assumed they are, will be saying f*** your centrism and using their majority votes to send the capitalists packing.

First of all, compared to representative democracy, it's harder to brainwash an entire country that it is an individual. Second, perhaps we should enact some laws against political advertisements.

Capitalism is anti democratic? What is sanctioned capitalism was voted for by a direct democracy. Are you seriously telling me that the existence of capital invalidates democracy, even when the majority have direct control over their own capital and how its distributed?

Directly democratically implemented and sanctioned capitalism is democratic in nature. The definition of democracy is the people controlling the government, so if the people control the flow of capital, it's democratic. I've proved you wrong.

I consider the labels to be meaningless, I think we should use real names like communism or anarco-capitalist, but centerism still has it's place as a word used to define a government structure that takes lessons from all political ideologies and tries to build a government that reflects the needs and concerns of all of them.

    thats not what centrism is...

when we have a direct democracy we are no longer capitalist because that would mean that workers would be able to use their power to control the economy.

holy f*** dude get your communist bullshit out of here, you're really making me rethink my opinion that the majority of people are smart.

I dont f***ing care about centerism vs right vs left, im talking about direct democracy. If you want to use direct democracy to enact communism, go ahead. You're derailing the entire thread.

but your OP literally says we need direct democracy to enact centrist policies, so clearly you do care because the whole point of you wanting direct democracy is to enact a "centrist" way of living.

You're nitpicking about semantics, ignore everything I say about centerism, left and right and just focus on whether or not direct democracy is better than representative democracy.

Why would it be any harder?
Agreed with second point to a degree but where do you draw the line on whats political and whats not? Everything can have a political aspect

the funny thing is, i actually do think direct>representative but there just needs to be a strong organization of the democracy

There are plenty of things to dislike about the government that don't involve capitalism and plenty of things to like about the government outside of capitalism. answer doesn't make sense

honestly, I think I failed to word my OP in the way I should have. As annoying as these arguments are, I've learned what to focus on when discussing direct democracy. Sorry for getting a little hot headed in the end, I do believe direct democracy is the best solution for everyone on the political spectrum, and I hope y'all consider the idea a little more.

as that town inevitably interacts with big capital it loses it's democracy. The big picture has to operate with the smaller one. But I like this answer cause it forces people to consider wtf "direct democracy" actually means
