Old animated movies can be boring. Nostalgia has a lot to do with the praise they get.

Watching them as an adult is also obviously very different.

Everybody making movie remakes. Not just Disney.

ok for my in depth thoughts....

this movie was absolutely horrendous. the sets looked like cheap soundstages - i can't believe they wasted $200 mill on this and it still ended up looking like s***.

none of the characters had any personality - it was like a robot made this s***. there is ZERO charisma in the lead though i don't blame her - she did what she could with the material.

disney should stop this diversity for the sake of diversity BS and stop making sanitised garbage like this.

btw i never saw the original cartoon.

People loved Aladdin

I think Liu Yifei did a great job

she was blank faced for 90% of the film. compare her performance with Naomi Scott's in Aladdin. then again, like i said, she had horrible material to work with so I don't really blame her.

After watching it, I‘m quiet honestly surprised the critical reception it’s getting.

I liked Naomi. But a lot of people didn't.

Reviews for these remakes are always so different. I'm talking bout fans.

Sites always have some weird ass reviews and care too much about Rotten Tomatoes and all that.

A lot of people still mad that Disney didn't give them the movie for free, which is stupid. Or because they didn't show this in theaters in the middle of wave 2 of the Rona. And that's gonna affect their reviews a lot.

It's the weakest out of the 3 I watched (Aladdin, TLK and Mulan). But I still enjoyed it.

I appreciate the fact that it's not a musical. Disney always making musicals instead of movies.

i thought what replaced the musical bits was not strong enough to carry a whole film.

The film is missing something for sure. But I don't want people singing for no reason 2, 3 or 4 times, Frozen style.

Oh for sure. Hell I loved Aladdin lmao. It made a billi and it’s getting a sequel. Alice wasn’t well received by critics either (worse than Aladdin) but it ended up making a billi and got a sequel. The sequel wasn’t well received and it didn’t make nearly as much as the first, hence no sequel. These films that do well financially will continue no matter what.

If Mulan does great in China, don’t be surprised if that sequel is green lit
