Two of my jobs closed due to corona back in March and the manager from one of the jobs sent out emails to everyone telling to file for unemployment.
I kind of feel guilty that I’m staying home and bringing more money than they do.
Every time I go grocery shopping and see all the employees there knowing that they probably getting minimum wage and on part time makes me feel guilty.
I mean it’s not my fault that both of my jobs closed but it doesn’t feel right.
I just hope essential workers will eventually get compensated sometime in the future. And I’m not talking about one time $500 bonus.
u should be mad at capitalism for exploiting people to such a high degree that essential workers make less than $15 an hour after taxes

Yes exactly that. Cost of living has increased dramatically over the years while minimum wage has been stagnant.
It was an opportunity to leave s***ty amazon and now I actually have a leg up, I'm still living with my fam but I want to move and thats money that I got saved up.
I feel sorry for people that weren't able to get unemployment or struggled to , I've had it since mid April, and it seems like Rebpubs definitely want to axe it and not give it a extension.
Nope
wrong smiley, being dependent on welfare isn't a flex or something to be proud of

Sounds like someone has a job
I’ve been working this whole time (not an essential worker just working from home)
And my gf had to get unemployment cause her job had to close, and now she is making almost as much as me for just chilling at home relaxing all day
I’m pretty jealous tbh lol

Here is why the talk about a $15 minimum wage is a joke.
"Or, in other words, for today’s minimum wage to be equivalent to what it was in 1950, it would have to increase to $30.35/hour."
That was posted in 2013 btw.
Yes its f***ed. It shows a lot of what we were told before Covid (wages cant go up/UBI isnt possible/we dont have enough) was bullshit and was only considered that way because it was the status quo.
No reason that people who risk their lives and fight for better pay get f*** all while others get a hand out
No because it's not my fault that these workers are getting paid less than what they deserve. The Government needs to fix that.
I agree it sucks though.

i’m waiting on other government benefits i can’t work i ain’t getting s***
good for anyone getting unemployment stimulus, sucks for medical people i agree, if you’re headass is working at a grocery store and complaining i don’t give a s*** about your crappy part time job the only essential people are the medical field
serve coffee at a hospital or stay at home and collect this check i'll take the check. plus our bosses have always been cheap when it comes to sanitization so f*** that.
No. You shouldn’t feel guilty for getting a little something after getting f***ed over.
The fact people collecting unemployment are getting paid more money than people actually working, but we’re all still poor kind of proves that American capitalism has undoubtably failed. It’s f***ed up that we have billionaires that are richer than ever, yet there are so many people working full-time jobs that aren’t even getting paid a living wage.

im making less than 15 a hour smh
I'm living rent free with my uncle until my job starts and qualified for unemployment since I worked during grad school and all of last summer.
I have like 200 bucks of essential expenses per month but get paid way more per week than that lol. I def. need this money less than many others but no I don't feel bad about taking it because I qualified and can still use it.
If corona didn't hit I would be making more though with a job for the summer I had secured in January.
