Depends. Separating art from its artist seems a little destructive in nature as it was that artist who made the art. To separate it from them in any way is more dillusioning one's self than anything else. But we all tell ourselves little white lies to make ourselves feel better so art and artist separation isn't really any different. Some are easier than others. It's all subjective. If you like their music enough, it's easy for your moral compass to skew or take a backseat.
For me it's complicated. Not an artist, but bear with the example:
When I was a kid, I'd often stay after school in an aftercare program with this older woman named Ms. Joy. Despite her name she could be pretty abrasive, an excessive smoker--a fairly, older imperious woman. Though all-in-all she took care of us and during the program we'd always sit in the cafeteria and on a big wheel-out television we'd watch The Bill Cosby show. And while I don't think I ever cared about the show personally it was nice to watch it with Ms. Joy and my friends, so to some extent I liked it.
Fast forward to today: Ms. Joy is dead and Bill Cosby is in jail. For me, it's difficult to seperate the art of that sitcom show from the artist that was Bill Cosby because there's a lot of fond memories wrapped up in it.
But that's just me.
you're gonna have to separate my foot from your ASS if you joranok again.
