    NEW EQUITY

I prefer the independent route. Artist development doesn’t work well in the hip hop world. That s*** may be cool for pop tho

Yeah it isn't necessary for rappers.
But the pop folks need it. Too many people singing of key on stage.
People should lose their careers for s***ty performances

nigga thinks it’s corny that we want mfs to take their craft more seriously

He must be 12 with that thinking

Probably never even listened to her, she’s not only an amazing rapper but but an amazing musician and has made one of the best EP’s of the past 20 years.

Find you some better artists to listen to

I don’t know how long you’ve been listening to hip hop but it’s always been this way

And when I say always I mean ALWAYS

If you’re looking for music with substance in the mainstream that’s your first mistake

There’s literally thousands of artists out right now that have been working on their craft for years and years and it shows through their music man.. stop listening to garbage ass music

True. People outside snitch on themselves wen they make threads like this. There is plenty of people within hip hop that has true artist development. I mean hell the one that everyone bashing (carti) has one of the best ones. But looking for it in mainstream wise is so dumb cause it’s obvious it won’t be there in plain sight first

I'm not looking for substance from the mainstream.
I just want the entire package to be perfectly framed the way it was. Too many people today are creating music but don't even have the talent to create music.
The mainstream used to be the highest level in terms of vocals, performances, pop songs etc because people put in the time to perfect things.

In hip hop development isn't required because in that space you come with your talent but in the pop world they can create you or build you up to be a superstar but they aren't doing that anymore and it shows.

Labels don't even put effort to even debut artists properly anymore.
Even their debut singles aren't even prioritized to be of high quality anymore

OP referring to s*** like singers who can’t sing live and folks completely ignoring that lol

  • Sep 10, 2022

Probably the craziest progression I can even think of off the top of my head. Cole used to be so corny and now he’s one of the best lyricists in the game.

RIP Mac but his progression was another crazy one as well as Tyler. Carti as well.

The list goes on and on and on and on

Are you talking about music in general or hip hop?

Because I disagree with both man, you’re gonna have to post some examples because if you make me post some songs from the early to mid ‘00s you’re going to look very foolish

Oh I think after the pandemic I think even the artists would agree lol.

Social media making niggas either too corny or making the fans think they waaaay too familiar with the artists.

    Bring the mystery back lol.

    Exactly.
I don't want to know about your personal life but just give us quality music and just perform like your life depends on it. Bring back sweating your ass off when singing r&b ballads on stage.

I’ll agree with you in terms of R&B though

There’s so much underground R&B that is absolutely amazing but that’s something you’re going to have to discover on your own

It’s just not mainstream anymore, so you’ve got a point there

I can barely think of a hit since early 2000s that felt like someone put there all into it

There are plenty. All the divas were still in the prime in the 2000s and they were still giving that energy.

The cheap music started to gain popularity in the 2000s tho

Vocal training. That's what all the singers in 90s did.

Mainstream music has always been this way man.. go look at some old charts

You’re falling victim to nostalgia so I’m not mad at you, it happens to everyone as we grow older

Vocal training. That's what all the singers in 90s did.

Most of that comes down to genetics. Lotta artists do get vocal training, but it’s not a guaranteed fix for having poor vocal range.
