Everyone wants to sling some fast food “music” into the internet hoping the young and dumb will allow them to become viral

I miss when music actually meant art and not some vehicle for quick bucks 😞

Music has been more about the money than the art for almost a century now

“Artistry” is the corniest s*** y’all cry about, especially since the artist y’all claim don’t have it just present they art differently to what you like

Honestly this. Op acts like we need labels to push fake stories and aesthetics to entice us on artists when we're doing much better now. I think we all love the more raw feel when artists develop themselves now vs before when they were puppets for a record label

There's still artist development but its from the artist themselves and not managers and label executives in control

I've been wondering considering how s***ty artists are these days. The bar is literally in hell but I've been thinking if artist development now would give us the artists that we desperately need. Also look how it's working in Kpop.

I think if it is brought back it can help usher a new wave of high quality artists like back in the 90s. Bring back that unattainable level of talent that is desperately needed in this generation.

you like that over produced soulless dystopian vibe?

I think you referring to current music.

im just saying kpop doesnt develop artists, it develops a product.

  • you complain about the lack of artistry and development of artists and then use Kpop as an example? one of the most mid, formulaic, generic and precisely calculated music that has pretty much no soul or originality?

  • Yes or else the artist has to do artist development themselves. Going through trail and error but it is hard to do it if you blow up quickly with a song. Basically no time to develop yourself. This is why it is sometimes better to struggle has an artist for years before you blow up because you are already groomed.
