I'm just saying it's funny how people wanna cap for Bruno Mars (not even his best album in OP) that they will even bring up Frank to express their controversial opinions. I respect Bruno and his work, and you can say he's a better vocalist than The Weeknd, but that doesn't mean everything that goes into an album. 24k Magic is good, but we are talking about one of the 2010s goats, constantly reinvented himself and even the r&b landscape. Only reason people talk about 24k Magic over his other two is because it sounds like derivative 80s rnb synth funk music while his other work had much more creativity. I know there's people here that listened to Paak/Chris Brown/Ri/Bey/Miguel here more than Frank/Weeknd, but the haters definitely listen to Weeknd/Frank more than the people that don't really care about them

I hear you. But at the end of the day Frank and Abel literally have their own sections, while threads for Miguel and Paak barely get any traction (and those are even some of the biggest names in R&B). Since they're more popular their haters naturally also happen to be more vocal.

Why do you assume people force themselves to hate someone before considering the possibility that they actually don't like someone's music? I think it's a bold claim to say we've all heard the weeknd and Frank Ocean more than let's say a Partynextdoor, Miguel, Bryson Tiller or Khalid. Sure the weeknd is on radio more so people might hear a song or two there but Frank definitely hasn't released much music to garner interest outside of people who were already in his circles. I think you overestimate their impact outside of the forums and blogs they've both been hyped up in for years.

It's sad to say but in R&B rn I don't think there's a major figurehead just because of the over saturation. It's hard to make a big impact without having to mix in pop or rap. Some of the best songs aren't even from full time singers, just rappers like Drake or Post Malone who aren't fully focused on R&B as a genre.

I'm curious how you made a narrative that Drake stans don't like The Weeknd online but if they're on good terms irl why would stans do that? Speaking on myself, yes I like Drake and don't like The Weeknd's last few projects yet it has nothing to do with any possible beefs they might've had. I think that's the case with most people tho.

One thing I've realised when I DJ at bars and clubs, as much as I love Bruno Mars his music hasn't aged well at all.

When I try and play anything from 24k Magic in the club it kills the vibe. Whereas most of The Weeknd's catalog still slaps.
