All Dragon Ball media after the original run sort of forgot how to execute the winning formula that was their arc structure. They used to have levels of threat escalating. In the Frieza arc there’s his initial henchmen Zarbon and Dadoria, then the Ginyu Force, then Frieza and his forms. With the Cell arc it’s initially androids 19 and 20, then 16, 17, and 18, and finally Cell and his forms. Same with the Buu arc starting with Babidi’s Majin possessed minions and then Buu’s forms. There’s drama and twists and turns in between these stages of threat. Now it’s just one guy who’s introduced as the initial threat and he’s ultimately beaten. I get switching it up, but everything new is so simple, too condensed, and unsatisfying to see be resolved. They tried to bring back tournaments like the earlier half of the series—which back then usually were a good way to break up the bigger arcs, but now they seem absurd on the scale the series currently is at.

@Aruji what are your thoughts on this?

GT has that to a degree.
if we're going through Super.
BoG arc - you're right
RoF arc - you're right
The tournament arcs always had that obvious big baddie to beat in the final.
Goku Black arc
Goku Black > Goku Black goes Rosé > Zamasu comes into play as an immortal being> they fuse > they merge with the multiverse
Moro arc is a bit similar to Frieza but they fight in the beginning so more similar to the Piccolo arc. Moro wishes his youth back > his henchmen aka the Galactic Patrol Prisoners are freed> 73 & Saganbo > Moro eats 73 > Moro steals Merus' powers and has to fuse with earth which will eventually explode
Granolah arc is the most obvious
first it's Granolah > Granolah used a clone > Granolah awakes his 2nd Sharingan > Gas comes into play > Gas goes through various power-ups > Black Frieza
I see a tendency here that goes in your favor but I wouldn't necessarily agree in general. Rather the scale has reached a point where it's difficult to follow the escalation. You can only escalate to a certain degree until it becomes unfathomable how something could be an even bigger threat.
Honestly I just wish regular Cell came back and they modified him into a cell max. Cell Max is the most unnecessary character made
Where do u guys read the manga?
