Just finished my OG Dragon Ball and Z rewatches. Buu arc definitely went up in my estimation. So many crazy ideas. They don’t all go together but it’s constantly moving that if you grow tired of one you get to another quickly. Starting my GT rewatch in Japanese for the first time and honestly I find most of this charming. The climax of Z was so over the top in terms of escalation that bringing things back down to basics was the right move. I like a lot of this space adventure shenanigan and the character dynamics and the way it naturally builds back up the escalation to Baby is really well done. It’s really just the missed potential of the short borderline filler of the Super 17 arc and the first half the Shadow Dragon Saga. The first 40 something episode chunk works for me especially now watching it without the awful dub to taint the experience (the 2 episodes basically redoing the Oolong introduction story are awful though) and the last 5 or so episodes of the series are solid—especially the final one which is great. Just a really melancholy series overall.

Red Ribbon Arc better personally, but it’s a close second. Tournament arcs due to their very nature are just too limited to be favorites.

I really do like the first chunk of the story, but yeah I dropped off during Super 17. It’s like a glorified bad movie. Last episode of the series still perfect though and the theme song is the best in the franchise.

Had a lot of interesting ideas but the execution and the bad writing just makes it hard to acknowledge as DBZ (or even later parts of Super) level

You like the pan saga? Felt like a literal rip off of dragon ball

Great game if you’re really into dragon ball but it’s not the most exciting combat structure but it makes up for it by looking good and the amount of moves you can use and characters you can play is solid.

I’d say it’s like the 3D “Open” world Legacy of Goku I hoped for as a kid.

Kakarot was goated from Saiyan to Frieza saga. Kinda fell off in Android/Cell saga and felt like they stopped trying in the Buu saga. Still enjoyed the game as whole even with its basic ass combat and will def replay when PS5 version comes out

What about the Buu saga makes you feel like they didn’t try?

The Vegeto vs Super Buu fight was stupid fun the first time since it was a nice .break from the main cast and the cut scenes were piff.

Also the History Of Trunks DLC is totally worth it since it’s a story of its own, actually had me in my feels again lol.

The other 2 are necessary for unlocking new forms for Goku & Vegeta and they also come with some cool new moves but if anything just get the battle pass if it’s on sale because the first 2 are more like training battles if anything lol

I remember Buu saga feeling rushed & less effort to it compared to the start of the game

Wish they would’ve done Goku & Vegeta inside Buu’s body would’ve been goat

No Trunks vs Cell either which was disappointing
