    Which you again are making direct comparisons in situations where you can't really make a direct one.

    Drake by design is a different artist than Jay Z. Drake's versatility and persona makes it easier for him to chart with White/Mainstream audiences than Jay, which is typically Top 40 territory.

    You really cant make a truly equal comparison to them that is fair. All things considered Drake should be more successful by nature.

    Kanye, maybe Andre 3000 are the only other superstar artists before Drake that had similar levels of versatility, had longevity and had an adjacent persona of being that non gangsta Unicorn in Rap.

    I know. Tbh I hate comparing artists from different eras because the different conditions each artist faced in each respective era will never make any sort of comparison balanced. Back in the 90's and early 00's, you couldn't score Billboard entries the way artists do now, that sort of stuff. Hov is obviously the GOAT. No one is debating. His longevity, his success, his skill set, his catalogue all give him.

    All I'm saying is that in the topic of HITS. Just HITS. Nobody. And I mean, nobody, in the history of rap music, is seeing Drake. Drake has over 100 songs that you can call legitimate hit records that he can throw at you. I don't know any other rapper who has that.

    It says a lot that people constantly compare Drake's catalogue to the catalogue of people who've been doing this rap s*** for over twice as long. Compare Drake with his peers and it's over before it even starts.

    Tory Lanez got the same versatility but it’s not just that, that’s not the reason. Drake just a supreme artists who can execute hit songs. A machine

    It's crazy, but I think the last real Story Lanez hits were Say It and Luv back in 2016. What's funny is that those were his first real hits as well. As versatile as he is and as catchy as his songs tend to be, nothing has resonated well enough to become a hit since so it's obviously not just about making catchy songs or being versatile.

    Drake is a store brought version of Jay-z and even then they got all of the ingredients wrong. Pigeon food.

    Lot of revisionist history going on from the oldheads. They are acting like Jay did NSync or Eminem numbers back in the day.

    Dude always was one of many buzzing never THAT nigga.

    Hip Hop is the biggest genre now because people like Ye and Drake bridged the gap....your same old coke lines only were gonna take you so far.

    NY bias in these discussions makes it impossible to take guys like Wayno serious.

    They haven't been running the game for years now with their only contribution being to hype up Jay to way more than hr actually was back then. Its not like Jay needs that kinda d*** riding. He is a Legend with bunch of classics and pretty much gave the game the blueprint in terms on dropping bars while hustling.

    Yet - he wasn't that Ubernigga that people prop him up nowadays Biggie, Pac, DMX, Em, Nelly, 50, Ye, Wayne and Drake ran the game during their prime while Jay was "faking streams" back then by having ROC employees buy their own CDs to prop up numbers or making deals with Samsung so hr could compete numbers wise with the niggas on top.

    Jay a Legend ...but let's keep it real with the BS. Current Jay is a product of the Ye and Bey affiliation and their impact on the game - he is "bigger" now than he actually was back then.

    Jay hits were huge in Europe and the Carribbean when I was a child. That Beyonce Pac remake of "all I need in this life..." was massive lol

    Drake might have more hits but Drake's hits dont last or age as well as Jay's.

    Drake=more hits
    Jay=more iconic/timeless hits

    As one of the comments said, if prime Jay was around with streaming s*** would be different. But that goes for Em, 50, Ye, Wayne etc.. all of them would be having Drake numbers or beyond if they are in their primes with streaming available.

    The conversation is literally about who has more hits

    Drake has dropped multiple fire rap and RnB songs like every year for a decade. YOU not liking his music is your personal view but you see what the music does

    obviously he has more hits when he jumps on the hottest wave... Jay isnt the type of to be a wave rider and go for hits... like Drake has consistently been doing

    Jay Z been getting radio play spanning FOUR decades so whether he has/doesn’t have more “hits” than Drake doesn’t mean he isn’t a legend in his on right

    Drake is on his third decade
