    Really doesn't matter and it doesn't change my opinion of Jay.

    obviously he has more hits when he jumps on the hottest wave... Jay isnt the type of to be a wave rider and go for hits... like Drake has consistently been doing

    Y'all talk about jumping on the hottest wave but there are 2 points I think people tend to forget:
    1 - Most of the time he makes songs before it was even a wave and since it's Drake and everything he does is magnified, he makes it the wave and it leads to criticism
    2 - It's very risky to make a song like Work or One Dance and leave your "first sound"

    Drake has an 8+ year old album sitting @ #105 in the Billboard Top 200

    That has nothing to do with hits. TC is his best album with his best songs, makes sense. That album doesn't have huge hits though. Its barely been 3-4 years and yet nobody plays One Dance or In My Feelings anymore lol Like a comment below that tweet said "Y'all gonna play Toosie Slide after Hard Knock Life and Ima laugh" lol

    You clearly don’t know Jay Z history 🤣😂🤣😂 casual fan. Jay might be the first artist accused of wave riding. Do your Googles

    Jay Z even flocked to hella white pop stars for hits (linkin park, Justin Timberlake, Chris MArtin, Robin Thicke etc etc) , Jay z flocked to younger artists on their hot streak

    But when you’re great people want to work with you, I ain’t mad. You just sound salty about drake success and spouting out the usual boring critiques.

    Drake is on his third decade

    I was not discrediting Drake. Drake in my opinion is the biggest “hit maker” of the century but I don’t believe it’s fair to discredit Jay Z because that’s an extremely high bar to meet.

    How many years was Jay the hottest rapper alive?

    Jay hits were huge in Europe and the Carribbean when I was a child. That Beyonce Pac remake of "all I need in this life..." was massive lol

    Drake might have more hits but Drake's hits dont last or age as well as Jay's.

    Drake=more hits
    Jay=more iconic/timeless hits

    This is a flat out lie.

    As one of the comments said, if prime Jay was around with streaming s*** would be different. But that goes for Em, 50, Ye, Wayne etc.. all of them would be having Drake numbers or beyond if they are in their primes with streaming available.

    Again, lies. Jay Z's other musical peers were always bigger than him. Scoring bigger hits and selling more albums. He was never ever the #1 guy in rap and that says a lot. He just outlasted everybody, that's all.

    Shut the f*** up about jumping waves like that isn't what Hov is known for doing. Like that isn't why he was able to last so long. Don't even start.

    eminem was bigger worldwide around that time

    then i would say 50 cent for a while

    other huge rappers around that time were the game and nelly (lol), maybe even throw ja rule in there

    kanye west around graduation era was the s***

    and lil wayne around that C3 era

    then we started the 2010s with drake and so on...

    jay-z might have never been the #1 rapper but he was in the top 5 for so long

    even during his height we had 2pac and biggie, then DMX....

    Bruh, how many hits from 2013 till now do YOU still play? Of course songs from the 90's and early 00's have that classic throwback feel because they've had the time to age.

    Drake wouldn't have been the #1 guy during that era either lmao prime 50, Ye, Luda, Jay, TI, Wayne and Em were monsters. Drake wouldve been like a Nelly, still huge but not THE guy.

    The only thing Jay Z had over his peers that out peaked him is that he outlasted all of them, but he was never the biggest rapper in the game. Not even for a single year. There was always someone else in that position.

    Wayno’s point is that you can’t really say that as a 24 year old who was in elementary school when that first Hov run ended

    We weren’t outside and you can’t really just say Drake got more hits because he broke all these records and s*** in a streaming era where u just gotta click around vs. hov who had hits that made the tunnel shake and probably had a musical presence on the streets of NY from 97-98 till at least a few years ago right before Bobby generation took over

    Y’all live and die by charts and numbers and headlines lol Drake and Hov is a weird comparison because Drake can’t do coke rap (that isn’t a dry snitch on someone from his entourage) and Hov don’t sing and didn’t have post trap production to be able to kinda phone flows in

    There’s a difference between “phoning flows in” and being able to ride every beat

    I’ll let you figure out which one is Drake. Hint: you’re wrong
