Off topic but does Young Thug have anything considered classic?
Classic songs yes, albums no
First of all, Views.
Second of all, how many classics are niggas supposed to have? Assuming he has 3-4, that already places him among the rappers with the most classic albums ever. What more do y’all want from him?
C’mon man Views is not a classic lmao
Y’all need to understand the difference between personally liking an album and an album being a classic

It’s one of the most iconic albums of the 2010s in any genre.

It’s not, it just has some of the biggest singles of the decade and was heavily anticipated.
If you remove One Dance, Controlla, and Hotline Bling (which was a year old bonus track) from that album there’s nothing “iconic” about it
I would say Drake's career is a classic. It's just classic rap lore through and through. Drake's the last samurai.

Yeah I guess if you remove the generation-defining hits it doesn’t have much else going for it, does it?
2016 is one of the most fondly remembered summers of the last decade, and VIEWS was the soundtrack to that summer for millions of people. It’s his biggest album globally and a lot of people consider it one of his best. It had hits, longevity, influence, cultural impact, and was tied to a pivotal moment in time.
It makes a stronger case for classic status than almost every male pop album that came after it.

You’re saying it like the entire album was the soundtrack to that summer, when it wasn’t.
It was just those two songs that people talk about very fondly, One Dance and Controlla.
Which is why I said if you remove those two songs from a 20 track album, there’s nothing “iconic” about it whatsoever.
If a classic is really only held up to classic status by 2/20 tracks, it’s not really a classic at all is it?
It’s like trying to argue that Starboy is a classic because it has the title track, I Feel It Coming, and Die For You on it.
A classic album is more than just 2-3 huge singles

Also, the most streamed album of 2016 is actually Starboy, so by your argument that album should be a classic too, no?
I doubt you’d think it is though, because it isn’t

A classic album is more than just 2-3 huge singles
Even outside of the classic singles it has album cuts that people play every year as well as songs that people rediscover years later. The album it 7 years old and still charting despite having no active singles. It’s not being carried by any 3-5 tracks.
If you could make a case for Starboy being as impactful, influential and career-defining as VIEWS was, I’d hear you out.

1. Views is not “career-defining”, it’s just his most popular album. If you asked someone to name Drake’s most career-defining project, they’re probably gonna say either Take Care or NWTS.
2. Drake is arguably the biggest artist in the world, of course an album he released less than a decade ago is gonna still be charting. American Teen from Khalid still charts without any active singles, that’s not a classic album.
3. A lot of the argument for that album being classic is driven by a numbers argument, numbers that you’ve mentioned several times now. My point still stands that without those two huge singles, that album wouldn’t be anywhere near as huge as it was. Which leads me back to my overall point, that a classic album is way more than just 2/3 gigantic singles.
By your argument Beauty Behind the Madness should be a classic since it has multiple huge singles and was impactful and career-defining for Abel. But again, I know you won’t agree with that because no one actually believes that album to be a classic.

1. Take Care, sure. But outside of enthusiast circles, you could easily argue that VIEWS did more for Drake than NWTS did.
2. It’s not a given that an album is going to chart for as long as VIEWS or as highly as VIEWS did during its chart run. It lives in the Top 100. American Teen was a massive album but that’s not a perfect comparison tbh. Sure it’s a hit album but plenty of artists get one of those. VIEWS is one of many hit albums from Drake but it has a unique place in the musical landscape that his others don’t. It was him at his most dominant between commercial success and like I said, influence. He was driving trends at that time and it was obvious any time you turned on the radio. That was the VIEWS year. It wasn’t just a big album. He has several of those.
And you’re acting like the hits are all that people go back to on it. That isn’t the case. Feel No Ways literally had a resurgence last year and Fire & Desire is a fan favorite Drake song. A lot of people consider it to be one of his best.
Do you think 2014 FHD is a classic?
