People only say this about Drake
Future Travis and all them still rap about the same s*** too and no one has a problem with it
This a very valid criticism. My only issue is nobody acts like Future or Travis Scott are the greatest rappers because of their popularity. People out Drake on a pedestal so the bar is higher for him. There's a reason almost nobody puts Travis or Future in big 3 convos

Yeeeeah you don’t listen to future.
Yeeeeah you don’t listen to future.
My thoughts exactly. I wast a big future fan because I thought he just made shallow music like this.
But after really listening to him boy was I wrong.
He actually turned to one of my favorite rap artists ever tbh
NumbersToThe
It is pretty hilarious how much numbers is a topic now that drake isn't as dominant for half a year
This thread is barely 50 minutes old and already aged like milk. 100 Gigs part 1 was free and all 3 songs charted, It's Up went #28, no one else can give out free songs and go top 30 on Billboard It's never been done before
And if his new music wasn't connecting with people they wouldn't have got him to cross 100B streams on Spotify this year. We see all this hate for Drake online but it ain't translating to real people dropping him completely
After that garbage FATD album and the terrible showing in the beef I personally won't be checking for the guy's music
If whatever he's putting out is good enough it'll find it's way to me.

charts, charts, charts, man
bro have u heard SOD? f*** outta here
this comment is actually hilarious because that song literally proves all my points 1000 percent.
Most streamed rapper in 2023
Most streamed rapper in 2024, even though his peers got the biggest hits of their careers and his music is ''flopping''. Damn, he really is struggling
Another thread another first page sob story
This place is gonna be horrible when either of their albums drop
It's gonna be awful around here

S***, Travis has a reputation for rapping about nothing but he's got the vibes on lock so it doesn't even matter. He's never been in the conversation for his pen.
You literally made this thread
bruv what are you saying. None of the things I'm talking about have anything to do with charts or sales or anything.
I'm talking about how his music is perceived. People don't care about it because he's saying the same s***.
And I'm talking about him losing his touch
I'm not saying he cant chart or sell.
I know hes going to keep getting streamed because he has made great music in the past.
I honestly could couldn't care less about charts or sales, the music I find myself listening to now as a I get older isn't even popular at all.
You want Drake to grow up & I don’t think that’s in the cards for him this far into his career
He would be better off bowing out
The artists who we consider GOATs are generally capable of maturing and illustrating that they have range as lyricists
Guess he's just another rapper who sold a lot of albums
This place is gonna be horrible when either of their albums drop
I'll like to note I'm not a stan of either Kendrick or Drake
Drake's current situation is just fascinating to me cause I love a***yzing things and I honestly find what's happening to him, and him himself to be really really interesting.

Yea sure but Drake is a individual in a unique circumstance from past artists
I wouldn’t expect him to be the same or fulfill the same things as his peer group or others before him
I wouldn’t place that expectation on any artist

You said his new music will "flop" in the title but now you admit his music can still chart and sell? Well that's the miscommunication right there, if you don't like it personally that's one thing but the charts dictate what flops and what doesn't so that was poor wording in the title
That's fair if you don't like it but we'll see what the majority think if they choose to come and support it. People are still streaming Its Up 900K times a day and he gave that out for free. It should've flopped but it didn't for whatever reason

Wasn’t directed at you just the general vibe of the place
60% of the threads in music sxn front page are about Drake at any given moment
The charts & tour numbers reflect this too. Rap is falling off because for the last 10+ years it had been elevating people who have no substance as the face of the genre.
