The charts & tour numbers reflect this too. Rap is falling off because for the last 10+ years it had been elevating people who have no substance as the face of the genre.

This combined with the deaths of some of the more promising artists

Yea sure but Drake is a individual in a unique circumstance from past artists

I wouldn’t expect him to be the same or fulfill the same things as his peer group or others before him

I wouldn’t place that expectation on any artist

He was seen as special from the beginning because he was sensitive and was capable of expressing his emotions at a time when that was not so common in mainstream rap

Then the jokes started getting under his skin, he put on his mob boss persona and it stunted his growth

If anything, I would think Drake would be someone who could tap in and write an interesting grown man rap album, but that would require him grow up and that ain't been happening

You said his new music will "flop" in the title but now you admit his music can still chart and sell? Well that's the miscommunication right there, if you don't like it personally that's one thing but the charts dictate what flops and what doesn't so that was poor wording in the title

That's fair if you don't like it but we'll see what the majority think if they choose to come and support it. People are still streaming Its Up 900K times a day and he gave that out for free. It should've flopped but it didn't for whatever reason

Oh okay, I don't equate flop to sales, but I guess that's what it's come to mean

I just mean it's going to flop as in people wont care about it. Which if your being honest has been what's happening with Drake. Aside from his fan fans nobodies cares about the new songs because he isn't saying anything at all.

I hate to harp on this man but the more time goes by the more he shows me it's over for him.

Drakes new music will flop, it has been flopping

    Drake has diluted his discography.

Drakes music is "outdated". Outdated might not be the right word but its not what the people are looking for anymore.

    And he isn't grasping that.

He keeps releasing the same songs, and has been for years.

I remember someone saying they heard that new Em song where he's talking to Haile off his new album. They thought about the relationship with their daughter and they broke down crying thinking about the memories they had etc.

Drake needs to make music with THAT effect. Something that makes people feel something. People don't care about how many woman you f**k anymore bro

So why is that the only kind of music you release?

It's weird. Hes releasing the same "I f**k girls, I get women, don't mess with me...etc"

It lacks substance, it's shallow, yeah it'll get played in the club but it wont connect with people in a meaningful way.

Post beef he should be trying to connect with the masses with meaningful music instead he's trying to tell us he still gets b*itches, bro how many albums do you need to tell us you sleep around? Why is it the only thing you feel the need to talk about?

Ye has crashed out but every single one of his contemporaries makes music that sticks with people. For some reason he's refusing to do any of that.

I don't even know if he can anymore.

You just outgrew the music, 18-25 year olds are still slapping the s*** out of this kind of rap

A grown man Drake album would do wonders for him more than he probably can realize but yeah like you said it just hasn't been happening

I thought FATD would’ve been that transition then the album dropped & he seemed to digress actually

  • Sep 1, 2024

The last 6 songs he’s dropped made me realize it might really be the end.

circadian rhythm is one of his best songs in 2024 dumbass

    Verse 1
I hit the weed too hard
You sent a eight-minute voice note straight from the heart
I reply like, "Yeah, whatever, when can you come get your stuff?"
I need this s*** out the crib, I think it's bringin' bad luck
Plug you in, now you lit, I pulled the plug, now you stuck
Dignity over a nut, wick-man all in the cut
How many doors did they shut? How many feathers they pluck?

    Chorus
Rap game like my sleepin' pattern 'cause how the f*** I'm still up?
Yeah, niggas don't speak my language
    Niggas don't speak my language
Niggas don't speak my language, yeah
How the f*** I'm still up?
Yeah, niggas don't speak my language
    Niggas don't speak my language
Niggas don't speak my language, yeah
How the f*** I'm still up?

Okay you tell me, which part you do you love? Is it the story telling? Maybe theirs a part you really relate to? Maybe it's because Drake is showing off his technical rhyming ability? Is it the "dignity over nut" bar? Maybe it's impressive how for the 100th song and the 100th verse this dude continues to rap about how down everyone is and how up he is. Maybe you love when a dude brags about banging every woman he comes in contact with.

What I'm doing would be unfair if this wasn't how every single song has been for the past 3 albums this man has created.

Since you started it I'm genuinely curious what about this song makes you think it's one of the best songs he's ever created?

    What makes this song amazing

  • Sep 1, 2024

I agree, and yeah, but that's my point. Artists make music to connect to an audience. For a dude like Drakes caliber all his music is for people to bump for a song or too, feel no emotion connection to it and then on to the next.

That can't be said about most other people in the megastar category.

Taylor can drop a song tomorrow and it'll be the soundtrack to millions of peoples lives. Thousands will cry to it, For hundreds of thousands it'll take them back to a time in their life, a particular story, a person, etc. Regardless if you like her or her music or not.

Same can be said for not only for most other megastars but smaller artists who make meaningful art.

Drake can't be dropping every song talking about his hoes and money and think anyone gives a genuine f**k other than to play it with the boys or the hoes at the club and forget it about it.

And the argument I'm trying to make is that the general public isn't looking for shallow music like that anymore from what I can tell.
