Another day another drake hate thread
The boy will continue to live and yall will continue to make these threads in your basements, ik life unfair
He need lock in created a MBTF album to save himself. But he too busy heat check his single every track.
Nigga couldn’t make a hit to save his life during the beef. Now he just making s*** releasing it hoping it sticks.
He isn’t confident in his music
I agree, and yeah, but that's my point. Artists make music to connect to an audience. For a dude like Drakes caliber all his music is for people to bump for a song or too, feel no emotion connection to it and then on to the next.
That can't be said about most other people in the megastar category.
Taylor can drop a song tomorrow and it'll be the soundtrack to millions of peoples lives. Thousands will cry to it, For hundreds of thousands it'll take them back to a time in their life, a particular story, a person, etc. Regardless if you like her or her music or not.
Same can be said for not only for most other megastars but smaller artists who make meaningful art.
Drake can't be dropping every song talking about his hoes and money and think anyone gives a genuine f**k other than to play it with the boys or the hoes at the club and forget it about it.
And the argument I'm trying to make is that the general public isn't looking for shallow music like that anymore from what I can tell.
I agree with most of what you’re saying, I just think as people who go to the extent of being regulars on this kind of forum.. it can be hard to step out of that and realize how uninvested most people are in this stuff. I do think there’s a palette change happening in the mainstream though, and substance probably does match the times better. Like when we were in a 0% interest rate bubble (stick with me), it was palatable to hear flexes all the time.. there was a general abundance in the air but now I think people want something more working class.. anyway, that’s what I get from seeing the success of guys like Zach Bryan and country in general. It could also just be ear fatigue and part of a normal trend cycle. I try to also take the perspective of like, I think Drake literally just churns out music as a habit, like it’s his main hobby.. but I think he cares less about the substance or calculation of his music career than he used to when the stakes were higher for his life.. i think it’s his main personal channel for talking s*** to his peers.. I appreciate his stuff from the perspective of like, you’re able to show up, complete something and keep up a steady output.. as an artist in general it’s impressive.. and tbh I think substance is overrated, every great song is a love song.. they’re all pretty shallow.. he could just pivot his shallowness and it would be timeless
I'm curious do you think this song has any staying power?
Like what are people's reactions going to be?
"oh yeah its a nice song good beat, etc" but that's it. He inst saying or doing anything he hasn't done before or thatch going to make a meaningful connection with anybody. Not to mention he's made this same dance hall song many many times before. All more successful than this. Why keep making the same music.
It’s nothing special. It’s the same formulaic bullshit he’s done for the past 4-5 albums. And those songs didn’t last so why should the 36th rendition of it
People only say this about Drake
Future Travis and all them still rap about the same s*** too and no one has a problem with it
Definitely people been having a problem with that. Especially Travis

Crazy to call yourself boys instead of men
This thread is barely 50 minutes old and already aged like milk. 100 Gigs part 1 was free and all 3 songs charted, It's Up went #28, no one else can give out free songs and go top 30 on Billboard It's never been done before
And if his new music wasn't connecting with people they wouldn't have got him to cross 100B streams on Spotify this year. We see all this hate for Drake online but it ain't translating to real people dropping him completely
It's Up? more like It's Freefalling. predicted to drop to #70 this week
He's stubborn, and doesn't understand he needs a true re-invention. It's kinda sad, but his fall off is real

Numbers wise you never creepin up
Drake should be dropping songs similar to "Too Much" and 4 PM, in that bag
NWTS since NWTS. Drakes best era. Can even overlook all the culture vulture elements.
That was the only bad part of the post
Idk he will prob never drop a good album again but he has good songs still all I want tbh
I feel the same about all these niggas now
Drake has underestimated the public reaction to Not Like Us and thought he could put out random s*** and stay on top
He wouldn’t do the 100Gigs stuff if he was sure his popularity is secure

Was he even trying to go for a hit in this
"It lacks substance, it's shallow..."
I mean.. it kind of reflects Drake, tbh.
His music overall lacks substance? And you think Drake is not a layered individual?
Just asking?
Was he even trying to go for a hit in this
…yes?
he dropped a clean version of Family Matters and promoted the living s*** out of it before it dropped

Yup but 100Gigs is not for the average fan. Its for his core fanbase.
In time of uncertainty always feed your base. Simple.
