I just don't think frequency is relevant. Plenty of well respected rappers havnt rapped in a while. We disqualifying Andre 3k?
I think it’s different in that he’s a legacy act with an established career.
Gambling sort of shifted away from rap right as he was going to hit his prime
He literally is dropping an album where he’s rapping
All I heard so far is Lithonia and that’s a rock song
The dude who has several mixtapes and one that is hosted by Dj Drama is Hip Hop adjacent? #ok
he hasn't dropped an actual rap project or anything close to it in a decade. and yeah by that logic alone sure you could say the same about Andre 3000 but when Andre finished he left behind a very sizable and undeniable hip hop discography and Childish didn't when he decided to branch out musically.
I think it’s different in that he’s a legacy act with an established career.

exactly
people really put Aesop rock, odd future, bino in alternative hip hop and I'm not sure if that's right I ain't mad tho
Is he... you know? 🥚

Maybe 3k is a bad example because you're right about being a legacy act. My point is just who cares about frequency. Nobody makes this argument about anybody besides here about Gambino
Was Kendrick not hip-hop for taking a long haitus after his biggest project? If you think Gambino corny or his music isn't good that's one thing, but he is hip-hop. He previewed a lot of his next album and there is a lot of rap on it

I can’t wait til the documentary comes out highlighting all of these guys then watch all the bloggers and journalists act like they showed them love. Those guys being shunned from the culture is a big reason why mainstream hip hop is in the state it’s in right now.
He's definitely apart of hip-hop culture lol I swear man nigga's make one R&B/soul and suddenly everybody forgets you were a rapper for decade prior
R O Y A L T Y was on the front page of DatPiff for like a year and reached over 100,000 downloads on there but go off, king.

There's literally nothing different. You're moving goalposts to support a bad take.

this
I see the vision Donald is more known for his comedy stand up to career than his music. Drake would’ve been in the same boat if degrassi had more appeal in the US
Asian Girls Everywhere
UCLA
This is what rap is all about
I kinda understand what he’s saying
I don’t quite agree with some of the terms he used, like “cosplaying” and s*** like that, seems negative, but I see what he’s trying to say
This doesn’t mean I agree at all

Nobody knows Donald more for his comedy, didn’t he only have like 1 special and it was ass?
He doesn’t even really rap anymore. I don’t see how this is a controversial take.
This is really all he saying
