His music is more influenced by other genres than it is hip hop. Even his rap albums don’t sound like hip hop and he has a different audience
Part of that is being creative and not being embraced but it doesn’t come out of nowhere. Calling him a hip hop artist would be weird as hell at this point

Gambino is definitely more of a “rapper” than Doja but neither of them fall in the Hip-Hop category in my opinion.
Gambino, at this point, is an Alternative artist and Doja is 100% a pop artist
