In my company, you are paid in direct correlation to your productivity. So, if what you were saying were true then people should be just as productive from home as they are in office. Yet, in my company the people who are in office are 4x more productive, on average and making 4x the amount. Human nature.
If true then thats good but your company is not reflective of most companies in America And it's actually quite an anomaly.
If you work at an Amazon warehouse and put in 2x the rate, you will get paid the exact same as the guy slogging it through. This is the reality of how most companies work

Right, but my point is even in a company where you are incentivized to produce more or work harder, people don’t when they work from home.
So, whether you are incentivized or not doesn’t matter. Doing the right thing when no one is watching is what we hope will happen, but typically it doesn’t and that’s why it’s more effective to work in office than not. People need accountability.

Man f*** that. If the work is getting done then what’s the problem? What does me pretending to be busy when I’m not do for anyone?
That’s not “accountability” that’s just a waste of everyone’s time w meaningless posturing

What? Im not talking about pretending to be busy. Im talking about actually being busy.

Your company probably has other issues then or the work might not just be worth going harder.
People will definitely work harder if the money is getting paid accordingly unless there are other factors at play that just make it suck.

You don’t get paid at my company if you don’t work. So, it is worth it to work harder. You literally are paid for what you produce, and it is very worth it to make 150k instead of 30k to do 4x less.
It isn’t about companies or any of that. The fact is some people just want more from life, want to do more in life, and want to give more. Those people tend to move up in companies and raise their standards in life. That said, MOST people say they want more from life, but don’t really want to do what it takes and are ok with status quo or just making enough to get by.

What are they doing at your company where the pay range is 30K - 150K? That's quite a drastic range. It sounds like sales.

It is sales.
It is sales.
Bro that says it all. Sales jobs in America are about as stressful and cutthroat as it gets. Not saying your company is like that but sales is just a tough gig for most people.

This is cap
90% of the work day in the office is just bullshittin
Aint no one being productive for 8 hours straight

Sales or not, I promise you the mentality of “why would I do more than I’m paid for” is going to get you nowhere further in life. How you do anything is how you do everything.
The man who does more than he is paid for will soon be paid for more than he does.

Because I made 290k last year, will do about 350 this year, and more the next with the residual I’ve built to work 8 hrs straight. Sacrifice short term for long term gain.
i think that everyone knows that no hourly worker or salaried genuinely puts in 100% for the whole day
like i’m typin this at work
i just still think that bosses will inevitably turn workers back into the office n that should be expected, which is why i find the backlash to elon’s statement odd
cus even if ppl ain’t bein productive all the time, there’s at least the social pressure of bein at work n havin a manager or higher up walk by at some moment
n most bosses r gonna prefer that to ppl bein at home where supervision is mostly not gonna really happen

This whole argument is based on the premise that worker productivity is significantly higher in the office and it's just not
And even then you should ask yourself why your first instinct is to put the bosses interests over the workers
That's why Tesla attracts mediocre talent. Unless you want to work for the specific product, why would anyone listen to this?
Tesla doesn't even pay as much.

You don't have to sacrifice though unless you believe your skill set maximizes at this level.
You can make this and more in other places without having to do this.

If you can show me a place I can make 290k year one even if I stop working, I’ll quit right now.

What do you mean stop working?
you mentioned you worked 8 hours a day straight to make this?

Residual income built
Also, you don’t think you have to sacrifice to level up in this world, you are in for a rude awakening.

Passive/residual income is different than getting paid for going to office for 8hrs. I probably missed the larger context there but I am stating you don't need to go to office except some industries/fields especially when it's been a proven model.
I work at a FAANG and no one from my team has gone to office in 2 years, my team has grown in size and productivity with commute time being eliminated.
