Man that’s crazy OP, cause I was just thinking Only real ones know this is the rightful ranking:

1. JESUS IS KING
2. Ye
3. The Life of Pablo
4. Yeezus
5. 808s and Heartbreak
6. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
7. Graduation
8. Late Registration
9. The College Dropout

This is because as he gets older he gets more experienced in creating art and levels up in taste.
The only exception is MBDTF because he wasn’t trying to make real art there, but more like critic-bait pseudo art. He wanted to make the masses believe he created a masterpiece in order to save his career, and he accomplished that.
He’s been playing with public perception ever since fam. Once it was stablished that he is able to create “masterpieces” he went on to do whatever he wanted whether you’d like it or not (it doesn’t really matter to him because his taste level is so much higher than yours).

He was about to do the same s*** on the 7th solo (Pusha was right when he said that album was going to be better than MBDTF) but he changed his mind and when for the art (and THEN he regretted that, Pablo era is Kanye’s craziest yet which one/which one).

Now it seems like he doesn’t give a f*** anymore, but he can make MBDTF 2 if he wants to (and he might just do that before focusing on his presidential campaign).

The production is simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Surface level doesn’t equal bad either, but the lyrics are not surface level for the most part. The first half of ITAKY and Yikes have one of the most personal and dark lyrics in Kanye’s career. Then there’s Ghost Town and Violent Crimes...

How? Do you honestly think the production and lyrics are better on JIK than YEEZUS??

JIK is better in the sense that it is a better accomplishment for Kanye as an artist. The minimalist vibe he’s been on ever since Yeezus got better on Pablo, even better on Ye, and even better on JIK.

Kanye West is a real artist, a way better artist than a musician. I’m judging based on my own interpretation of art and what I assume is Kanye’s interpretation of art also.

In what ways did Kanye achieve this minimalist vibe? In what ways is it better than his previous albums? A better accomplishment seems vague to me. How is that?

Also since Kanye has also created maximalist art, when you compare, are you judging the minimal albums in a higher regard than the maximal albums?

Lastly, JIK's service level approach to religion does not compare to the nuanced look into Kanye's psych on Yeezus and Ye or the wild/mythical interpretation of his lifestyle on TLOP and MBDTF...i could go on. Topically and sonically JIK is not on the same level. And I really did enjoy the album 7.5/10
