The conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) leads the polls survey with 30 percent, the far-right Alternative Fur Deutschland (AfD) is slated to win 20 percent, while the incumbent Social Democratic Party (SPD) stands in third place with 15 percent.
It appears they will not prevail, but it is disturbing that 20% of eligible voters want Germany to revert to fascism. With the Berlin Wall in place, it has only been 5 decades since people realized the costs of fascism.

German election results live: CDU’s Friedrich Merz claims win, AfD second
The growing AfD movement is fundamentally the same as the American MAGA movement, and not so different from the rise of fascism in last centuries ‘20s.
Economically, many Germans are frustrated with rising living costs/inflation and economic stagnation. The AfD capitalizes on these anxieties by blaming policies, EU regulations, and migration for economic struggles. In eastern Germany where wages and economic opportunities lag behind the west the message from AfD resonates even stronger.
The 2015 migrant crisis and subsequent waves of immigration have also fueled concerns about national identity, integration, and security. The AfD has positioned itself as the strongest anti-immigration party, appealing to voters who feel that mainstream politicians are not addressing their concerns.
Germany’s push for renewable energy and its shift away from nuclear and Russian gas have led to high energy prices. The AfD has capitalized on fears that climate policies disproportionately burden ordinary citizens.
Poor adaptation by society and lagging government efforts in managing social media and other communication technologies (smart phones, etc..) undoubtedly play a role here too, not to mention foreign actors invading in discussions one might think only involve local perspectives.

Yea, like many other countries, they are claiming that it is the fault of Arabs, and that immigration is destroying communities, the economy, housing, and jobs. A similar narrative is fueling far-right uprisings across the world. Tho, what really reignited this was the recent attacks, which received a lot of media attention
Because it is just incorrect phrasing. He made a cynical deal with Stalin to buy time, and hoped France and the UK would back out.
Even if that were the case, how would that correlate to a "united Europa" movement in the modern time
These people will spin anything in a language that furthers their incorrect arguments.
anyone notice anything
Yeah this picture just proves that socialism is the definite cure for fascism

I mean, yeah, you could say that, but let's not try to deflect blame and ignore the nuance. Yes, the Soviet Union has a hand in this, but so does the current majority neoliberal grand coalition.
To preface, extremism persisted after the fall of the wall, owing to numerous unresolved economic, social, and intuitive challenges following reunification. Yes, we all agree on that.
But the crux of it is that West Germany was several decades ahead of East Berlin, leaving them economically disadvantaged, resulting in higher unemployment and lower wages. These are the consequences of abruptly transitioning to a Western capitalist system. The lack of strong institutions, infrastructure, and so on fueled right-wing/extremist sentiment among people who were frustrated by a lack of help and bleak lives, and right-wing groups capitalized on this, gaining traction through movements such as Pegida and later parties like AfD.
The government is currently investing in combating extremism, but the only way to solve this is through long-term investment and the development of social programs in the East. Sure, corruption in East Berlin played a role, but the larger issue was systemic neglect and economic exploitation. You had key ideas such as political disconnect (CDU, FDP) from the Eastern struggle, as well as feelings of abandonment. You also had the rapid reunification process, which was entirely dictated by West Germany and the states that controlled it (the United States). East was largely absorbed into it.
You had agencies like the Treuhandanstalt working against East Germany, isolating and abandoning people. There was also an emphasis on market efficiency, which did not ensure equitable development. You could blame this on East Germany's corruption, but to be honest, it is also the fault of neoliberals. I sincerely hope that the current liberal coalition will make an effort to improve East Germany's social situation in the coming years. Isolating them will only harm everyone, the far-right using populist lies won't help anyone.
love how you skipped over the first half lmao. you f***ing inhumane ghoul absolute f***ing travesty what happened to you after birth
I hope you're not serious otherwise you clearly have some anger issue bro tf
She blocked me, but she truly believes Hitler's dream is to see thousands of Arab and Jewish people dispersed in Europe.
It's incredible how she can throw these punches and simply utter the most crazy hyperbolic things, and other radicalized users will agree.
She will genuinely argue that Hitler sees the liberalism and democratic institutions he intended to smash, as well as the relatively peaceful coalition and treaties, and that is entirely his desire.
If she sees this, she won’t actually engage with the content, she will cherrypick and push the blame on you, saying you’re complacent in genocide, you are a neo colonizer, among other things. OR she will
play dumb and say what are you talking about, and bring up a totally unrelated counter argument. Genuinely sad behaviour. Imagine logging into ktt every morning just to argue with the people you hate and consider fascists
Damn
@Snowboy how do you respond?

Good a***ysis
AfD still won. They are about to have over 10% more than 4 years ago. It’s not about “winning” the elections. They knew CDU is going to win this time and if CDU is going to fail (they probably will), AfD will take the lead in 4 years.
This is very bad for Germany imo and most people don’t understand what it means that they have over 20% now
That's not how it works
Also when the AfD will end up as the biggest party, they need a coalition

You just didn't understand me
They won because they doubled their size. It's not about being the biggest party this time, they knew it's not going to happen in 2025. Their plan was always to achieve this in 2029.
planned to post this video in here originally, its really good

I did understand you. But like I said, if the AfD becomes the biggest in 2029 they still need others to form a coalition

Oh they will
Soeder from CDU/CSU already said today some racist s*** and that he would be "fine" with doing a "Germany coalition" (CDU and AfD) because they hate the Greens
