Wish I got the balls to do that...
That's the most important feature rn tbh
buy cameras instead of lens
I need lights is what I need
Why in Sam Hill are c stands so expensive

Yo peripherals be mad expensive
I hate when you start feeling yourself cause you just copped a nice camera then come time you need a boompole and microphone and they all cost $200 or some s***
good mics are like 10x as expensive as good cameras. you can't even use vintage mics unless you want truly s*** audio quality or stock mics that some cameras come with. Some cameras do have great audio recorders but external tools 100% a necessity depending on the type of film you make
lowkey silent films the way to go, just slap some music and sound effects over that s*** in post

yeah but silent s*** is corny and the talent can smell your desperation
I think the answer here is to make friends with a sound guy

Ez na
Silent films are amazing ain’t you see the one I already posted
Okay but that’s another story, cuz it’s made during a time where movies ain’t have sound period
I agree modern silent films are corny
But if you can play with celluloid like a boss then you can make something that slaps
Agreed though, most viable part of filmmaking is CONNECTS. I have a female friend who graduated from art school and has so many connects now, I worked on a short with her but she had RED and Blackmagic cameras all cuz people she knew let her borrow them. Not that easy for people who ain’t got any formal training sometimes but linking with people through social media helps
Did my first short film as a producer this year :) Learnt a lot, we used airbnb for the protagonist's house lol
I put this in the KTT Film making discord a while back and a similarly themed thread on KTT1. I had to delete the discord app off my phone for space (even though I plan on coming back) but..
For the last few months I’ve been developing a website inspired by Brainfeeder films and what not.
Just a website where people can host their creative works at (short films and the like included)
Been doing this after hearing all the nightmarish stories that aspiring film makers / actors and creatives have to go through to try to make it in the industry and I wanted to do my part to help create a space where creatives don’t get taken advantage of in any way.
I can’t post the link here cuz it’s a work in progress and I’m a huge perfectionist but if there’s a PM feature on this site I’d be glad to share with y’all.

any lessons or tips for us?

Improvisation is great but have a finished script in hand.
Be sincere with your team, help each other but don't have everyone doing everything.
The saying about a movie being made three times (Script, Production & Editing) is true 100%.
Have meetings in person, not texts, to make sure is everyone is on the same page.
SOUND IS KEY! You can have the latest cameras and lenses but if your recording equipment is trash (or you don't know how to use it) it will bring the whole thing down.
My broke ass is gonna buy tungsten 1ks instead of saving up for a led cob frez. Pray 4 me as I inevitably f*** up and overload my breakers

yea for sure, capturing good sound is my hardest hurdle as an amateur.

Yup and since cinema is an audiovisual experience for the most part, good sound design and audio is one of the most essential parts of the film. Even when shooting a movie on your phone you’re gonna want to be recording the audio tracks on separate, high quality devices. The engineering aspect is a whole other huge beast to overcome cause that s*** has to be mastered and mixed just like you in FL studio or sumn. Love editing stages though, probably even more than principal photography
Can’t wait to cop as many cameras as possible next year and just start filming everything in life 🙏🏾
I wanna document myself and eventually make a documentary about my life for my kids and family members
Next year is going to be hectic since I plan on going to Cannes thought their short film corner but hopefully it’s worth the money cuz it’s gonna be a f***in lot
