MGS Twin Snakes. That hallway cutscene with Gray Fox, Psycho Mantis reading the memory card, changed gaming for me as a kid lmao

Final Fantasy 8 & the MGS1 trailer that was inside of the VR missions game. I watched the trailer so many f***ing times as a kid

    Damn, I really don’t know

Super Mario 64 made me a gamer, so much fun.

Half Life 2 completely blew me away, the mechanics were insane.

Left 4 Dead, Gears of War and Halo were probably the first mature games I played consciously tho

  • Metal Gear Solid for PSX.

There was literally nothing like it at the time. Started a generation of story driven action games imo.

What're some games where the story/gameplay/atmosphere/graphics etc. in it absolutely blew you away? Games where you finished it and laid awake for days not able to sleep because a story/ending/gameplay/atmosphere was just so fascinating/interesting/terrifying/unexpected.

For me personally it was def Red Dead Redemption. The emptiness I felt after Johns Death Paired with these mysterious side missions (strange man + this cannibal) and the tense soundtrack made me

Your mom. played her like sega no genesis

    cs 1.6 diablo 2 gta 3

  • Already stated MGS but honorable mention for Shenmue for Dreamcast.

Another absolutely mind blowing game for it's time with nothing else like it at the time. Game was big enough to finally get them to do a Shemue 3 over 20 years later.

Final Fantasy IX most definitely. I played tons of SNES and N64 masterpieces before it, but that was the first game that really made go "hol up" and feel something.

I think Bioshock Infinite would also fit in this thread. Especially the ending made me

at first just addressing religion and faith taken to the highest degree, then race and racism and class based society all while slowly dipping a toe into parallel universes and strange steam punk physics to finishing with a full on multiverse, interstellar style reveal and twist.

First Bioshock was also dope. Made me fall in love with immersive sims, just loved the claustrophobic atmosphere + the plot twist at the end

I remember my big bro had HL2 on his laptop, all I did was throw cans at the guards in the 1st level
