Now I’m thinking about my stats here. Do coworkers count How friendly we talking : Do people you occasionally hang out with mutual friends count

granted you live near the person, i consider a friend someone you work into your schedule and make sure to hang out/go out with them.

for distance, really just have to speak to them on a weekly basis.

    all subjective though.

Shes not talkin bout emotional sincere niggas like us vro.

She’s referring moreso to the men that's just talk about sports and women and nothing else deep or personal. Ive had those too (moreso in high school) and them s***s was boring to me.

    Shawty making generalizations tho

  • Aug 25, 2023

Also how many people work in industries where making sincere connections is part of the job description (e.g. musicians, dancers, etc. )

I used to think like this too til a homegurl who’s had and lost close friends f***ed me up on this:

Talking about, “reason yall friendships last so long is y’all don’t talk about s***. Of course yall never get into big fights when yall don’t know each other at all.”

I feel her but this doesn’t apply to everyone

Like Americana said I’ve had bad fights with my boys and we come back cause the foundation is strong. I’ve met women who literally make friends using dating apps and they’ll call em bestie after a few months.

Neither of these apply to everyone though, I’ve def met dudes who have friends and they don’t talk about s***, but also maybe they do and consciously choose not to let it ruin the friendship

This is cap and gender war nonsense. You can’t become best friends with someone without talking about real s***

More like men don’t hate each other for being men and women friendships “don’t last” as often cause they live in a society that tells them womanhood is bad therefore they internalize that and hate other women for it, so it’s just waiting to bubble up in an altercation at any second

Like ppl can spend all day on their phone (me included) without having to have contact w a single person. Even when in social spaces ppl never be sparking of conversations anymore. Feel like that outside of class or work it’s genuinely hard to meet ppl irl.

    decline of social third spaces

    Period

  • Aug 25, 2023
    • For more than a decade, psychologists have written about the “friendship crisis” facing many men. One 2006 a***ysis published in the American Sociological Review found that while Americans in general have fewer friends outside the family than they used to, young, White, educated men have lost more friends than other groups.*

Making a concerted effort to turn my phone off when I’m in social spaces this year has helped me kinda ween off it slowly.

A lot of studies that speak on men in the US overall are gonna be almost exclusively accurate to the white male experience cause they’re the overwhelming majority of men in the US

It’s important to keep that in mind
