This. @Goo I’d also like to add that I remember there was a short period in time when people accused Ja of biting DMX’s style and there being a small rift between the two because of it

Yup, he was a carbon copy of him at the start. Ja experience what desiigner got with the future comparisons. He almost didn't make it because of it.

    Yeah this is it here

like man why are you making a worse version of Magic Stick?

At least Disco Inferno was a pretty nice song, but even then that was a worse version of On Fire. I know some people say The Massacre's a classic but for me that was one of the most disappointing albums ever on release for me.

Was just like man what the f*** happened? I need to revisit it though.

but tbh I was never a fan of Ja

From the beginning he always felt like a DMX biter, and I know he did well commercially with the Rap&Bullshit songs but man was always trash.

    edit: linked the wrong song

Hot take but the massacre is just as good as get rich its one of his most diverse projects. He got a lil bit of every style on there. Yeah it was more pop friendly with some of the singles but overall the album got strong cuts with a couple misses. And it gave us one of his best songs, a Baltimore love thing and we gotta factor in he gave Game some of his hardest joints.

Will always be remembered in the hiphop collective as the dude that got washed by Ems camp

The Massacre's problem imo is it has more filler. But damn In My Hood is such a hard ass intro

Didn't Kanye praise that song in an interview too?

I'm still trying to find that interview.

Honestly I'll take Ja's corny singles over 50's post-get rich corny singles eg candy shop & amusement park

Some of yall are capping hard lmao. Ja Rule never got respect as an MC like that. Ja Rule died because he had to beef with damn near the entire industry and when he was doing that his music was mediocre compared to 50 and eminems.

Ja Rule doesn't get flowers because his career is like a blur. Just a small window where only his singles mattered

    El Nigga

Ja and Nelly ran the radio at one point

  • Ja Rule had a lot of hits and was definitely one of the bigger faces of NY/east coast rap for a good few years. On top of that when damn near everyone was going at him and making diss tracks he did stand his ground and dissed them all back on an album. We can call Ja Rule corny all we want, he certainly has given us reason to do so throughout the years, but that doesn't change his impact in early 2000s rap

What makes it even worse for Ja is that Mesmerize which is his worst single peaked around the same time 50 Cent dropped In Da Club which is his best single.

Ja really shot himself in the foot making that the lead single in the beginning of 50's buzz.

Also this. I still believe Ja Rule is beating 50 in a Verzuz battle. Ja Rule just got way more songs that still get play on the radio and clubs. 50 got Get Rich or Die Tryin for sure and a few tracks on Massacre...but ion know anybody who still tryna hear Candy Shop or Ayo Technology

GRODT Soundtrack, the best tracks off Beg For Mercy, I Get money off of Curtis, How We Do, Hate it Or Love it, damn near every track off Power Of The Dollar was hard,

this site stay acting like GRODT was the only good thing 50 did lol

If Europeans and Eminem stans flood the Verzuz, they'll declare 50 the winner even if he includes Amusement Park lol.

But, nah, I think 50 definitely has the edge if you include album cuts, features, and mixtape songs. Ja was basically a singles artist even though his singles do sound fresher than 50's singles on average.

I remember when the first BEEF doc dropped & 50 was clownin Ja for the Grease-themed music video

If 50’s, pre GRODT discog was popular, then he’d sweep Ja in a Verzus tbh

Yep. If 50 plays "Life On The Line", it'd be hard for Ja to recover from that lmao.

What’s wild is the whole point of Dave’s who gives a f*** about what Ja Rule thinks joke was that we shouldn’t look to celebrities period during tough times. But the joke became all about clowning Ja and we now look to Chappelle for a state of the union speech after every election or tragedy.
