Had it for years. Libby is amazing. I honestly never borrow physical books, but they do have a bookstore where people donate books to and it's filled with NYT/Oprah Book Club bestsellers people give away for $2 that would cost $20 on Amazon.

Yeah as an adult I’ve probably only borrowed a handful of books, but my library card gives me access to linkedin learning and I learned a lot of stuff on there

When I lived alone I got one, rented Great Gatsby and read a quarter of the way through, the next day I met my girlfriend and we just celebrated our 5 year anniversary
still don't know where that book is but it has the bookmark on the same page I left it at, kinda crazy to think about it this way
Chicago Public Library system is fire. No late fees on books + The Maker Lab (3d printers, sewing machines, laser cutters, etc) + a bunch of free streaming/research journal subscriptions

actually so real for this post, i used to live on the outskirts of my city so i didnt qualify for a library card but this post just reminded that im eligible now since ive moved

I appreciate that the internet made it cost less resources to distribute literature but at the same time, hand-sense connectivity is real and holding a book without worrying about what else it may tempt me to do, like a phone would, makes it so much more enjoyable
