I think this was the biggest issue for Godzilla fans. He was doing side quests in a Kong movie. Although I do appreciate that this movie made it clear in no uncertain terms would Kong ever beat Godzilla.

I’m not a big Godzilla Kong fan or expert but I binged the 2010s universe during quarantine and Skull Island was my favorite

I love kong and his story was dope but damn can my nigga Godzilla get some love!

I get the feeling Adam Wingard doesn’t like Godzilla cause everytime he’s on screen it’s always less than 2 min and seems to be Godzilla just killing titans for fan service sake. He gets no where near the love Kong does.

His power up is aesthetically cool but holds no weight and means nothing. Regular Godzilla coulda handled scar and shimo solo. The scale is barely there anymore aside from the Egypt fight.

Also the last fight ended way too quick, i hear the next one is Godzilla focused but honestly I don’t think wingard likes Godzilla enough to do him proper justice imo. We need a new director

Relax because if you want more godzilla there’s plenty. They’re just evening out the character development for the two. The love for Godzilla is clear in both these movies because he wrecked him both times

Him winning is literally fan service bro. He has no story. His motives make zero sense. It’s clear he’s just an ad-on to this movie even though he has top billing in the title. That love might be clear to you but I see it as fan service. This movie clearly didn’t need Godzilla to be here it should have been a solo Kong flick imo

Still had a great time with the movie don’t get it twisted. Seeing them run together is peak regardless of anything tbh

Kong has skull island

GVK was slightly more Kong centered but in terms of memorable moments and impact it was pretty equal

GxK is very kong centered, GxK sequel will be the Godzilla centered one according to Wingard

Ight GvK did even them pretty well despite Kong clearly being the protagonist. Still I think the new empire should have been Kong’s version of KOTM by being a solo film.
But by adding Godzilla it takes away all the stakes and thus takes away from kongs story.

I agree, they could have made it solely a Kong film but that’s not how the industry works unfortunately. Just look at it like this: we got some great cameo moments from Godzilla and the Monsterverse will most likely be able to continue. It was straight out of the Hollywood handbook to pair them together after the succes of GvK and the way godzillas solo film flopped at the box office
