But op whatever you do, do not get a credit card UNLESS you’re bringing in decent money. If you aren’t making at least $35,000 a year after taxes, don’t do it

This is horrible advice, what are you talking about

got my first credit card at 20

now 24 with $9k in credit card debt

    don't be like me

I got a 20 month 0% interest card I put my class on that I’ve been paying off. Always pay more than the minimum due and I’m almost done now

    creditcards in 2021

Damn fam, you just gotta trust that people won’t be idiots.

It literally doesn’t matter if someone is making 100k a year vs someone making 20k, they could both easily abuse it, it has nothing to do with how much money you make lmfao.

Telling someone NOT to get a credit card (and therefore not build their credit, which is something everyone 100% needs if they’re not trying to drive a s***ty car and live in a trash apartment forever) is probably the worst financial advise you could give someone. In fact, one of the top 5 pieces of advise that I’d give myself at 18 if I could would be to get a credit card instead of waiting until I was 26.

Ok fam I hear you. More money won’t automatically help make better decisions, education will.

I just got overwhelmed with seeing the standard being that everyone should get a credit card as soon as theyre eligible without stressing the importance of having to pay it back. Hence why America is leading in consumer debt.

As I said before, credit can help you do great things like get a new car and nicer crib, which we both agree on. But the focus should be more on your income to back it up. If you’re not making enough money, you will definitely become a slave to those things that were placed to make your life better

    Disagree

Get one no matter how much you make. Only spend what you can afford.

Same, if you got the discipline you should never be using anything other than a credit card to buy things.

Treat them like cash, only buy what you need and can pay off in full at the end of the month.

If you are worried about spending, just use it only for gas for your car.

    Why lol

You get rewards points for just being a member. I got over 300 bucks worth of Hotel

If you’re with Navy Federal and have decent credit get the cash reward card.

And by decent I mean like beginner credit without any demerits.
