Crazy I just had to bump an old thread I was shocked nobody said anything earlier absolute masterpiece bar none

Arguably the greatest concept album ever conceived within the genre of Hip-Hop.

On the real.. shout out to this masterpiece of an album. I didn’t really like it at first but once it clicked, it really hit me hard. Not a lot of albums can really come close to this gem.

One of the last albums imo that felt like a real “moment” when it dropped. Maybe it was just me because I was anticipating this s*** so heavy

Anyone else remember those first couple of days before this really blew up where it was just special appreciating what this nigga just dropped?

Man I got blazed recently and hadn’t given this a full play in years and damn, that s*** transported me. This s*** so cinematic, the transition from song to song. The back n forth of emotions throughout the whole album…man shoutout my Gemini brother for this classic. It’s #4 on my list of favorite Dot projects but it was so nice seeing him finally blow up way back then

DAMN was the first Kendrick album that I liked instantly. Every one before that had to click.

Remember Rosenberg getting mad that people were calling it a classic on day one then he reconvened two weeks later and said “ y’all were right”

Honestly I wasn’t vibing with the storyline at all like that and only prefer the obvious banger songs like Backseat Freestyle, Money Trees, MAAD City, etc. One day in like 2013, that s*** clicked for me once I was watching Menace II Society again as an adult. I could literally picture what GKMC would be as a film and the rest is history

Damn that’s even more surprising fam but of course there’s so much depth in his projects I can totally understand that only one that has to grow on me was TPAB
