I don’t like this guy. At all.
I never watched Ted Lasso so I only know him from his 3 second Thor character that will probably never be seen again lol
Wait what
https://twitter.com/filmupdates/status/18636705923831728892027 is nuts
Even as a black man, it’s annoying how Hollywood would shoehorn a black actor (especially in a white role) for the sake of being “inclusive”
Like everything about Snape screams bitter, anti-social white man
2027 is nuts
the longer it takes, the better tbh. not only does it feel too soon for a remake, but they gotta make sure they come correct with it
Woat recasting
Hollywood's fear of having all-white casts is getting ridiculous now. As a black man, I promise you that we don't care if there's black people in Harry Potter
They acting like that s*** will stop me from enjoying Succession
L
No one can replace the goat
A black Professor Snape…. Now I’ve seen everything.
This is a role that suits Adam Driver perfectly
True
It’s obviously not a real issue but I think it is unnecessary idk. Write explicitly black characters don’t just race swap and think it gives you brownies points
I would be semi surprised if the entire cast of this show stayed all white besides the handful of explicitly minority characters
LOL
What we race swapping for the big 3?
Harry gotta be black
Ron asian
Hermione some kind of Hispanic, maybe Puerto Rican or Mexican
Harry gon be white still but Hermione finna be black, Ron prob finna be Indian
If you’re doing a remake, absolutely go ahead and race swap if the actor is dope
I don’t want to watch the exact same s***
I’m a book purist — I respect the movies for the production value and using the massive budget well in the same way I respect that from Marvel movies.
That’s about all I can say for the movies though.
And I would imagine a lot of book purists feel the same. Most of the people that love the movies never got into the books (like read them once, never had a deep connection with them) and/or don’t appreciate good filmmaking.
Really? I have to be honest, I’m surprised by this opinion. Harry Potter is a remarkably consistent franchise, in my opinion. I don’t think there’s an outright “bad” movie in the main eight films. The quality of Harry Potter far exceeds that of Star Wars and Marvel.
I’ve read the books at least four times and personally I wasn’t too upset about most of the cuts/changes. Film and novelizations are different mediums. I don’t think we need to see things like Nick’s Death Day celebration or the Hermione SPEW subplot. That said, I do wish certain things like the Dumbledore/Grindelwald backstory, Kreacher’s journey, and the Marauders were preserved.
I think Chamber of Secrets is a good example of why you can’t just “film the book.” It’s a really uneven movie that feels episodic. This could be remedied by adapting it into a tv show rather than a movie, but I don’t know.

The only one where it doesn’t make sense to me is Snow White cause I thought her name was Snow White because she was white
I agree. I think the best thing that they can do is to do something completely different than the movies. That includes aesthetic, music etc. It needs to stand out on its own.
100%. The show needs an identity of its own, but it also has to feel magical and immersive again in order to introduce a newer generation to Harry Potter. All while trying to bring back the younger millennials that grew up with the movies. That is not going to be easy.
My sympathies go out to whoever tackles the third season. Trying to match what Cuaron did is impossible.
This has to be some kind of sick joke.

I mean I guess I’d just say — if your bar is Star Wars or especially Marvel, then clearly your bar is not very high in terms of film quality (or high quality TV).
Star Wars (in recent years) and Marvel since its inception are franchises designed to make money off of the entire branding — they are largely not concerned with trying to tell artful stories with depth and nuance.
And quite frankly, that’s how the Harry Potter movies were also designed (with perhaps the exception of Cuaron’s PoA).
I’ve said this a lot in here, but there’s a world in which this series is what it should be — an attempt to create a true prestige TV artful and nuanced version of this story. The obvious comp for what it would be in an ideal scenario is GoT (which obvi had horrible writing at the end, but approached things the right way for a large portion of its run).
Do you have any idea how many classics HBO has
That's why I'm confident with this one
