The lazy criticism of DAMN. is the Yang to the lazy criticism of TPAB’s Yin
I feel like a lazy album like Damn is gonna get lazy criticism. It’s the perfect embodiment of how Kendrick Lamar swindled ppl. Funny how we won a Pulitzer or whatever he won for that album lol all cuz , like hov said, “Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice
It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he write”
Idk if you can be considered an oldhead if you're not even legally allowed to drink alcohol yet. And this thread gives that "Remember 2016?" vibes like bro we get Yeat, Ice Spice, O Rod. Yes those old guys are all past their primes but music is going to be fine if you give new artists a chance
Ok well that’s fair then
Just kidding
I found out about kendrick in 2013 so that's when I heard s80
nah that had like 2-3 good songs
Ahh ima have to disagree with you there. Not much that stands out on it really, but played the whole album at work the other day and realized I could put it on and not have to skip anything

It does all kinda blend together in a lukewarm drizzle like most of Drake's post-IYRTITL work

Oh ok. I saw him perform at Coachella 1st day and early in the day. Crowd was super small with more empty gaps than people. Poor dude was trying sooo hard but people were just not feeling it and walking out after a few minutes. People didn’t really start feeling him like that til the hype machine started rolling. I saw it before my very own eyes

Pun intended with the “drizzle”? lol
2010s rap has aged so well compared to 2000s rap
A lot of 2000s stuff sounded like dust in the 2010s
Maybe i’m just old and nostalgic because i was a teen in the 2010s

me? im 23
That's cool. Them Kendrick slaps still got a lot of play by others tho
I agree that they must have but I didn’t know a single person f***ing with that album or listening to any of the songs or anything. I would just hear Humble bumping outta cars but cuz it was on the radio

I mean that's how it is for a lot of artists
His progression is pretty admirable imo

Because 2010s rap was an actual evolution compared to the 2000s
2020s rap is a forced and failed attempt at progression

He had already dropped section 80 he was already signed to inter scope he already had the Dre co-sign at that point. But I can’t stress enough how much it seemed like one of those local rappers that does a performance at a local venue and has like 10-20 ppl show up. The hype machine got everyone on him is what happened they figured out how to work and market him and it obviously worked crazy well

"the music i grew up with was better than the music releasing now"
I f*** w this. What album should I listen to
I f*** w this. What album should I listen to
I found this song from alpha male motivation edit. I don't know albums.
Kendrick last good album 2015.. Cole 2016.. Drake 2022, and 2015 before that..
Kanye an empty shell of his former self, releasing unfinished trash since 2016..
Travis never topping DBR and being commercialized into oblivion..
Weeknd giving up on making good music after Kiss Land...
PARTY never came back after he went MOBILE...
What went wrong... all of that talent just withering away as fans coped..
