He might not have wanted to give JT the clout
Na like some of those songs were made to be his songs before they went to Justin
I think Janet Jackson missed an opportunity after Velvet Rope to do an album produced by Neptunes and Daft Punk coulda been a classic and f***ing huge. Not to say her post velvet rope albums were bad because they weren’t at all

Never heard that before tbh. I can definitely see him on Rock Your Body.

Yea but to me it feels too inspired by Michael to be an actual Michael song, like it wouldnt have been anything like new for him but its amazing as a Justin song.
Same deal w Frontin and Prince, i see why he turned it down but as a Neptunes song that s*** is lioned
!dream michael jackson working on music with KANYE WEST in the studio
F*** this
Yeah like all artist he lost his touch on the pulse
I feel Ye in the same position rn

pharell said in drink champs interview half of justified was originally pitched to michael and he said "nah i want the stuff that u make for NORE"
this is the one
I wouldn’t have taken those Justified and Usher Neptunes songs if I was MJ either. Y’all are not artists so when you call MJ foolish for that you just look at it from a non-artist standpoint and think about “what would have been a hit”. As a creator who’s rightfully looking to push my sound forward and update my ethos for a new time, retreading my old sound would be redundant
MJ going the hiphop club route makes so much sense cause he was looking to get more aggressive, but doing so would have the same ethos as Thriller in the clubs back in the day
Hell, as for the Rock Your Body example, not only is it Off The Wall lite like @Mitchell said but that beat is influenced by MJ’s own You Rock My World which came out a year prior lol

Yeah MJ had the right vision and I wish it got executed an urban club MJ album would have been f***ing incredible and something new in his discography and better than Pharrell living out a childhood dream and cosplaying Quincy Jones.
I also really think outside of the urban rnb sound Mj shoulda tapped in w Daft Punk for at least one song on his album, woulda been insanity.
He approached Dr. Dre during the Invincible era about producing some tracks for the album but Dre declined because he preferred to work with artists from the ground up or so that’s what was said.
MJ also turned down the Justin Timberlake Neptunes songs so IDK if I can trust his taste in that era
I heard that it was his team that turned it down and not him because they didn’t want him to take risks by working with up and coming producers.

F***! MJ on Family Affair could've been so butter. Always thought that songs underlying topic was about stopping gun violence in clubs, imagine MJ tackling that issue with Dr.Dre on a song made for the club Michael Jackson telling niggas to stop shooting up the club would've been a moment

That might be true but i think i remember pharrell saying Mj called him and told him he didnt want that sound specifically

Damn Mike was a Gangsta frfr
Would’ve been a cool evolution but unfortunately the hard truth is MJ stopped evolving creatively from album to album after Dangerous.
Lol what is this bullshit
No evolution after Dangerous lmao
I feel Ye in the same position rn
I actually think if he focused on a singing album he'd have it again he's had his finger on the pulse he just doesn't do it.
Pharrell has that issue as well where I don't hate his work now like alot of people but he feels like he deliberately isn't trying.
Michael and Prince felt spent by this point but P and Ye feel lazy

Exactly people can't see those songs were fresh for JT not for Mike so if Mike did em I doubt they woulda hit even.

The fact that MJ had enough awareness at a late stage in his career to know this is a testament to him imo

He co signed 808s over everything that said it all!
Rick Rubin and MJ would've interesting
