Yeah but the thing that inspired me to say this was that they played a part of his song before the super bowl half time show some sort of Apple deal idk. Point is that hes on a (indie) label now and is intersted in more of a mainstream push. I suggest you check out the newer stuff hes putting out

Damn i was watching the apple upload of it and wondering what beat that was thats wild lmao

Well consider me wrong then, I hope he makes it into this convo on a wide scale fr

Was Kanye Wayne Hov Kendrick Drake a dusthead talking about their hood problems while ignoring their personal problems? Who does that archetype even fit and when has he been number one in rap to be relevant in this convo lol

You making excuses for niggas being f***in lazy lmao. Nobody said you had to be a super conscious rapper just try to actually rap well and be somewhat unique. Lmaoo thats literally it man

no I meant 'ignoring MY own personal problems, while listening to some rapper's problems'

I don't have time or energy anymore to empathize with some rapper's issues living on the other side of the globe, that's the main subject in hip-hop, either that or materialist s***

idc about lyricism as much as I care about the lyrics content, if I can't relate to their lifestyle of f***ing b****es and getting high everyday (or running from the cops or dodging corners), I cannot tolerate it anymore

We’re not gonna act like those artists don’t have filler lines and everything they did was amazing? All these artists you mentioned had clear peaks and valleys. I love Lupe Fiasco……but I ONLY love that mixtape s***, F&L and The Cool. Kanye hasn’t made anything I want to listen to since TLOP. I personally think Cole is pretty mid and only really liked him before his debut album. Wayne grinded for years before he really became a star and now he’s been a has been for like a decade. I get they created an era that you are nostalgic for but this music being released today is cool af and doesn’t take itself too serious while still being somewhat lyrical

Im not too tapped in on all of Lupe’s mid 2010’s s*** but those IG / youtube freestyles he was doing were fire to me. Last official apple music release i checked out that nigga was rapping from the perspective of a dinosaur. I cant lie every time i hear him he at least trying to rap at a high level

As far as someone like Ye he’s a perfect example of someone who fell into the trap of making bullshit because of your last sentence and “the culture is always right” mentality instead of setting the pace for the culture like he used to

niggas like Ye and Drake fell into the trap no pun of what Im talking about and all of rap now doesnt have anyone to set the standard.

But im saying at their peaks, theres no one who today even tries to be anywhere near that good lmao

doechii is being forced onto people

like i said some other time its kinda crazy how its only with women in hip hop that people pick one artist for their flavor of the month curator core performance only to run through them in a short period of time to move on to the next. doechii bout to join rapsody, noname, glorilla, megan, ice spice, princess nokia, and little simz in a sec

This type of thinking is what led hip hop to its dark place. “I usually dont like rap but…” ass nigga. Fans like you gotta get all the way the f*** out the genre so it can go back to just being raw f*** all the glitzy audio tricks to compete with come and go music trends. The classics in the 90’s came when rap was barely just becoming a “pop” thing

Dumbass niggas doing afrobeats and bell bottoms and guitars because they scared to just rap or gotta compete with every new dumbass trend

    hard truths

  • what exactly are you mad about

we need a new kid cudi like a guy that has his own vibe and then goes and works with EDM and rock and indie artists but still having great raps and melodies feel like he was the one that got us out of the ring tone era and made the blog s*** big

  • lil ufo

hiphop era been over for a minute
now the most relevant genre is electronic and pop

Nah...2024 was a hella stacked year.

Ya'll just want more radio hits or pop culture moments and don't care about actually great projects dropping.

Here’s the harsh reality for some of you that started listening to rap in 2016.. the world has gone to s***. People don’t want to hear that mindless bullshit anymore. We crave quality substance now more than ever. It’s not about mfs that just go on stage and scream and shout with their tracks playing anymore.

Travis is one of the least conscious rappers OAT and is arguably more popular than Drake atm.
