Please stop going back and forth with bozos like this. Nigga said the rapping on TPAB isn’t impressive 😂
why would you enter a hot take thread to get mad at hot takes
why would you enter a hot take thread to get mad at hot takes
Because that take was dumb as hell. Only an idiot or a complete buffoon would think that dumb s***. That’s not even debatable.

okay you didn't read the post, that's fine. have a nice day

these walls
king kunta
hood politics
you aint gotta lie

complexion
ive played all of these songs at parties fyi and everyone enjoyed it.
why would you even enter a hot take thread to get mad at people for giving hot takes
This is not hot takes this is dumb takes
The thing about the take is that it’s not only cold but dumb & boring too
Man posted dish water
sheesh, just say you weren't a fan of the album
Probably my favorite album of all time because of my personal connection to it. I just really fw Complexion. Thundercat's guitar and vocals

Yall could point out moments where you felt the rapping was really excellent instead of just insulting him I can kinda see what he's saying. King Kunta line about sharing bars like they in a two man cell, Mortal Man line about lions hissing in the den and gut feeling line on HMADC are the only ones that come to mind rn
Obviously there's more to rapping than just bars and Kendrick delivers on those aspects. But I think after GKMC, he focused on aspects like flow and gearing his lyrics towards telling a complete narrative over the album more. I feel the same way about the rapping on MM&TBS. Like I admire his mind for referencing Baby Shark like that, that retaliation for his ancestors is a clever way to twist it. But the 69 under me line is the only one that had me like
when I caught it. Meanwhile the Love Below still has me doing that all these years later over lines I've heard hundreds of times before. When Sparks Fly by Vince Staples has everything tying in together for the concept of the song to the point where some people didn't even realize it's about a gun until it was pointed out to them. But when you catch it, it makes you appreciate his bars more
That user is just saying that everything else is there, but the rapping isn't really "Best hip-hop album of all time" quality in his opinion. I personally feel like GKMC has Kendrick's best balance of traditional rapping and storytelling. Sherane alone has a crazy amount of wordplay, almost every line has something for you to catch

You should've had your aux privileges revoked the moment you put Momma on at a party Amazing song but that's not the vibe for it

Hood politics, Momma, Institutionalized second verse, Wesley’s Theory all not elite rapping? also bar wise s80 is by far his best at displaying that.

They definitely are, but Momma is a perfect example of what I'm trying to say. It's great rapping because of the rhyme schemes and flow but there isn't really wordplay or bars that have you like when you get it
My innocence limited the experience lacked
Ten of us with no tentative tactic that cracked
The mind of a literate writer, but I did it in fact
You admitted it once I submitted it wrapped in plastic
Remember scribblin' scratchin' dilligent sentences backwards
Visiting freestyle cyphers for your reaction
Now I can live in a stadium, pack it the fastest
Gamblin' Benjamin benefits, sinnin' in traffic
Spinnin' women in cartwheels, linen fabric on fashion
Winnin' in every decision
Kendrick is master that mastered it
Isn't it lovely how menaces turned attraction?
This is all great writing and the third verse has amazing storytelling. That's what he's focused on now and that's okay imo, he's already proven his skill earlier in his career
I'm not trying to say quotables and it's not really punchlines either. Just wordplay
This guy nailed it for me on his album last year

I can see that actually, EP, OD and S80 were def more wordplay heavy. GKMC was when he started shifting away from it tbh and started to structure his verses more completely.
album is mid. I dont get the d*** riding honestly...
id rather go listen to real funk & soul music and then have Nas playing in the background at the same time
damn is better if we just talking singles alone. good kid is his best album.
who the f*** is regularly replaying songs like U and Institutionalized? Man, turn this s*** off and play some Slum Village!
It's not a fun album to listen to sure
Obviously I can't bop to For Free
But there's no way I'm playing a song off the album and then NOT spin the whole album front to back
If I play You aint gotta lie - which is great on its own btw
I just gotta rewind the whole album
And then the appreciation for how much a dollar cost, f***ing mortal man???
It all comes right back
A lot of TPAB tracks should’ve been used to flesh out U.U as a complete album. You can take at least 10 tracks from TPAB and still make an equally impactful album.

i appreciate you actually coming into the thread and engaging with posts. people are weird af for acting on the personal defensive like i'm criticizing the album or its quality. i'm just giving my opinion on what parts of the album shine the brightest, i'm aware it's a hot take hence why it's in this thread
other people in this thread literally this:
I still replay a lot of the tracks from TPAB, and how aren't tracks like Alright and King Kunta accessible
in my opinion the problem with kendrick's music is that it is just boring to listen to. I always try to go back and see if I like it like I used to and I can't even decide what song to listen to because man I don't think he is exciting. it's so boring. even though I like UU I just can't go back at all.
