But the concept of free will is in the bible, no? Way before capitalism. The fact that capitalists use the concept of free will to justify their actions and beliefs does not mean that they created it.

The bible speaks on freewill and predestination.

The Kings, Prophets etc. were all predestined to become that. Freewill exists on how well you keep the Law during your dispensation of rulership.

Someone ie Jonah, who ran away from his predestined mission at first due to free will, still accomplished his life goal.

Dude free will is a pretty big theme of monotheism. Think of the garden of Eden

I think he's moreso talking about the enlightenment idea of freedom i.e. liberal individualism

but yeah its clear from context that OP is asking about the philosophical problem

Free will exists on a smaller scale

Like right now I could choose to fly across the country or stay home and play Apex

Its a menial choice but its still a choice. There are no overbearing forces making me do one or the either

saying this is equal to ingoring the fact that your brain controls everything, every single aspect of human life. everything happing inside your skull is what determines what you will do next, would you agree or disagree?

yea i dont think anyone behind a veil of ignorance would chose poverty and starvation though

it all depends on the life mission & viewpoint bro. folks dealing with lineal succession, would have a more honorable perspective to partake in breaking a particular curse or be the progenerater of positivity.

I was just watching this lil video about this african tribe that're uber spiritual and can tap into things we aren't capable of.

Everyone has a mission even ourselves.

We are born with genes we didnt choose, in an environment we didn't choose. These circumstances affect greatly (or completely) the way we make our first decisions, upon which all our future decisions will be based, so how would there be a free will?

If you believe there is free will, where does the ability to independently decide our actions come from?

idk if i explained my thoughts in a way that is understandable, kinda hard ngl

Free will is being able to play the hand you are dealt with in life however you want

    Proving u still in control

Free will is being able to play the hand you are dealt with in life however you want

does a person with severe autism or down syndrome have much free will though? Hard to play a hand like that at all outside of a certain privileged environment, you're pretty much destined to one place in life.

yeah but your genes + environment determine your personality

if you're an adventurous person you'll "choose" to fly across the country

if you're not you'll "choose" to stay home and play apex

both decisions were made based on your personality, which is based on stuff that was out of your control

even if you tried to trick the game and choose the opposite answer at random, that decision was also because of your personality. which was still prior experiences + genes
