White people will never understand the Bible so with every 'scientific' article pertaining to pre/post life they seek ways to dispute it.
Bro there are literal verses that speak of Predestination.
There are literal verses that speak of Angels/Aliens appearing as Humans
If you don't understand that every 'King' and 'Prophet' the bible are literal God sent Angels in the flesh, idk what to tell you.
Isaiah, Jeremiah, Moses, David and of course Jesus, his 12 Apostles etc. These Men are all Angels according to the scriptures.
People don't get how The Most High works, so they deny His thought process and begin to "enlighten" themselves.
Sad sad sad.
If our gospel is hid, it's hidden to those that are lost.
Folks don't understand that God is only dealing with 1/3 of His own people. These are they who are Predestined to know His Truth, Light and Will.
Unless one repents, they can be apart of that hopeful 1/3.
Verse about the 1/3. Zechariah 13:8-9
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Sad sad sad.
What's sad about it when humans are given free will to choose what they want? It's neutral, it just is

You gotta explain that better man

Well, maybe most people fit the average..?
One's perspective on History and the Afterlife impacts their physical life output... keep that in mind.

Interesting thought
There is no contradiction
I don’t believe there is a contradiction, I’m simply asking you where do you think choices come from.
The main reason I don’t believe in free will is because I can’t see how it works. I’m not saying that proves it doesn’t exist, but it does make believing in it a matter of faith, because what’s a good way of rationalizing free will?
Because it’s called free will to do what you want with the body you have, not free birth to choose the body you get.

I think free will needs to be well-defined to answer that question, but Ill say my thoughts.
I think any humans actions are contained in their body, but thats not enough. We must define the mind and body as separate, usually entangled entities. The mind is for lack of better words* You, while the body is your evolutionary urges. This includes pursuit of pleasure, desire to procreate, etc. For me, free will entails the ability for the mind to solely determine bodily actions. The body uses emotions to influence you to feel a certain way, to get what it thinks it needs. If you can bypass that, the body loses its control, and the mind becomes free to do what it pleases
*This is a somewhat Buddhist interpretation, except that most would disagree the mind is You, preferring there to be no You at all.
Example, think of a monk sitting for 6 hours. Could you do that? Probably no, because youd be sore. Thats your bodies need for comfort. But youd be bored. Thats your need for pleasure. Okay, but why do it at all? Because you can. If you have free will you dont need a reason. If you need a reason to do something, you dont have free will
You aren't the only one with free will
cause humans aren’t slave to their desires and environment and are capable of higher reasoning and logic, of course they shape what you’ll do but it doesn’t determine let’s say u have a sugar addiction and u see a donut it’s not gonna be a 100% chance you’ll eat it, it’s more like 80/20 or whatever leaving room for ur choice
stoicism

But how can a mind (or anything for that matter) solely determine anything? Since everything in the universe has a cause and comes from something, I don’t see how can decision or thoughts can arise out of nowhere. It’s like trying to imagine a color that you’ve never seen.

Monks sit for 6 hours to make themselves believe or at least feel like they are in control. They’re seeking peace, they’re not doing it for no reason. There is always a reason for doing something.
Everything is predetermined by the sands of time. There is a way to overcome & break the leashes of your eternal fate however, and that’s by -
Wait.
Do you hear that? Shh.. The intro riffs to “I stand alone” by Godsmack? .. ?
ITS HERE. I MUST RUN.
holy s*** 😭😭😭😭
No
it is a tough pill to swallow for some
i resigned to just pretend I have free will and go along with the illusion

this is why free will doesn't exist
there are always reasons for your decisions
a monk's "reason" is his pre-frontal cortex which enables him to suppress his other animal instincts, his desire for peace and attainment, etc
Even if you were a god-like entity that knew everything there is to know, your decisions would be made based on what you know. Not free will
Free will is inconceivable because decisions inherently have to be based on factors, otherwise they wouldn't be decisions
But how can a mind (or anything for that matter) solely determine anything? Since everything in the universe has a cause and comes from something, I don’t see how can decision or thoughts can arise out of nowhere. It’s like trying to imagine a color that you’ve never seen.
I would highly recommend reading the second and third parts of Henri Bergson's "Time and Free Will", maybe alongside a reader/commentary depending on your familiarity with that area of philosophy.
It's a difficult but revolutionary approach to the problem of free will, and answers the "everything must be either random or predetermined" argument.
