Hate to be that guy...
But he died.
He definitely had respect in the game but the praise he’s gotten since his death is something else
Mac’s style is pretty run of the mill but to be able to replicate his sound and get away with it you need the massive amount of skill that he had
Some of yall on this site man lol...
I’m just using facts I remember from my past. But I miss him, RIP
I preface this by saying I haven't listened to Mac Miller in a long time.
But I don't remember him being one of those white rappers that goes out of their way trying to be comedic or be super edgy. A lot of white rappers try and copy Eminem by going with one of those.
Example of trying to be funny
Example of trying to be edgy (nigga even sounds like Em)
!https://youtu.be/LLAgke7QprMHow did Mac Miller become so respected
But also why do you think people rather go with all these gimmicks, when he proved you don't have to?
Because Mac actually took rappin serious and he didn’t try to be black
He was clowned all the time but people stopped after his passing. This is what’s wrong with our culture. You have to die for people often you the respect you deserve.

I really don’t think he was clowned that much at all by that time. Seemed like the vast majority of people had a lot of respect for him prior to his death

He was. I remember vividly countless stupid memes and jokes when Swimming dropped. But he also had a good following.
Ive loved him since 2016 but there’s no denying his level of respect multiplied by 10 since his death
Trust me I know lol. It was nothing like what it became tho. Watching Movies was like “wow this dude isn’t that garbage anymore” type respect it wasn’t “this guy is the most natural and flyest white rapper ever and such a fantastic genuine person”. Everyone gets more love when they’re gone
He never really was garbage , his music always had content. The Question with Lil Wayne is an amazing introspective song and he was 20 yrs old when that dropped. His artistic style grew with each new project , cmon now. He started trying to copy wiz style than he created his own. Why do you think TDE f***ed with him the way he did.
This kinda ironic considering the "I think I might need a lawyer, Hov about to have me killed for trynna talk to Rita Ora" line
I didn’t keep up with him like that but I will say he never got the stigma a lot of white rappers did of being Em clones or being meme rappers
And it seemed a lot of the hip hop community respected him similar to Em
Exactly he stopped caring about making mainstream music after that Donald Trump song , everything was different after that .
cause he was genuine
He stood out from his peers and made great music, plus he was unproblematic person. Simple as that.

Like Nip
Confused by the reply. I clearly said he already had respect. If you think it was even half what it is now tho you’re lying to yourself
